hudy lathes are great as well, i suggest you practice with carbide bits though before you tickle with the diamond ones.

If you can find a Twister I would get that. They were the best in the business and are really hard to come by now. All of the others started coming out when they went out of business and few if any were able to make them as good and still be resonanly priced. I have one with a Carter diamond bit, but would be hard pressed to sell it even though I've not raced in two years.

I would suggest the hard lathe no turning of the wheel just slides nice right accross the com

I got myself a Hudy (manual) lathe from a friend of a friend who was selling up. Had no problems with mine 
Even with a thrown wind on one armature I thought I had pickled the diamond bit. but its still working fine... luckily!
edit-i actually threw the COMMUTATOR on one armature, spun it to bits whilst cutting it but luckily I didnt mangle the diamond bit. Dang lucky!
