Personal Transponders

Anyone know where I can pick one up? The local track is all out and have been on backorder for 2 months.

That link didn't work. I did find a site, I think AMB, that you could purchase them from, but they wanted your life history to order one. Any on-line or LHS that have them?? It must be the hot thing to have since nobody can get them??

not that i can help with a place to get one, but they are awesome. worth every bit of the 60 bucks that they run. one less thing to worry about on a busy day. 10g vs 20g. most rules specify a minimum weight w/o transponder. you get a 10g advantage with the personal. negligeable perhaps, but 10g just the same.

If you race, you need to put a transponder in the car so it can "trip" the scoring beam as you pass over it. Alot of tracks have gone to personal transponders, so rather than putting a heavier transponder that you have to return after each race, you have your own that mounts in the car that has it's own personal id that the track stores in the computer, no more messing with the track transponders!!

Sup,
unlike a rechargeable transponder which simply clips onto the car, a personal transponder plugs in to the receiver at the "batt" slot.
The big thing about these is that YOU OWN IT. It stays with the car. no need to worry about people being late getting transponders back to the race officials. no worrying about possible dead batteries.
The other difference is that it's really small. About the size of a micro servo. About half the size(or more) of a rechargeable transponder.
