Which would you rather race against: Lipo or Brushless?

Here's one for you: you have a great Kwik 4200 6 cell battery and a Kwik pro tuned 27 turn motor. Now, you're given the choice of only one of these to race AGAINST: Lipo 3200 with a Kwik pro tuned 27 turn motor or 13.5 Brushless with a Kwik 4200 6 cell battery. Which would you choose? The class is stock sedan foam racing, all standard rules apply, weight, ride height, etc. The girl you are racing against is equal to you in looks and ability as well.;) I'm asking because at some tracks the 13.5 is allowed in the stock class, however, a 3200 lipo with a 27 turn motor is not (due to the advantage the lipo provides I guess).

I know there are a ton of these lipo/ brushless threads here and I'm not bitching/debating about anything, just curious what individual racers would choose given the choice. Disclaimer: If you don't like these types of threads don't read them. Thank you.

I'd rather race against the brushed motor with the lipo cell pack

than against the 13.5BL.... the BL is always going to whoop my arse, no matter what batteries are plugged into it. They just gear up so nice, and have amazing torque...

I'd rather race against the LIPO/Brushed combo. LIPO has less punch compared to NIMH and you'd be able to pull the LIPO car coming out of the turns ... 13.5 brushless is more like trying to race a CO27 against a KD19.

I'll race against anything, I don't care ...as long as there's drinking afterwards somewhere.

...and HARSH's answer WINS the prize in MY book ( :( even though I don't drink )

I would have to agree with the masses, because although I'm quite excited about the 3200 lipos for a lot of reasons, I do feel a GOOD set of 4200's will out PUNCH the 3200's, especially early in the run. The LIPO benefit comes from CONSTANT VOLTAGE pretty much all the way through the run.

The 4200/13.5 SHOULD Whoop upon the 3200/BRUSHED co27

Lipo

The punch would be much better with a 3 cell lipo!

Congrats, dude. I think this is a first that there were over 6 posts and no bitching in a Lipo/brushless thread. You really are a peace lover... :)

Hahahahahaha... Good one!

So I guess lipo/Brushed would not be much of an advantage over 6 cell/brushed judging by the feedback of this post. Good to know for future reference, thanks for your input.

At our track. Running a 13.5pro with an IB4200 is faster than running the same car, weight, and setup with the same 13.5pro and a 3200 lipo. I think maybe faster by about 3tenths per lap. So really, the 3200 pack does not have an advantage other than convenience in the pits. Now running a 13.5pro vs a CO27, the 13.5pro clearly has the advantage when geared right.

So in the end a Brushless is faster than a Brushed and a IB4200 will deliver more early punch than a Lipo. Yay or Nay.

That's about right, at least with Orion's LiPo. I hear the more volatile cells like those from MaxAmps have a LOT more voltage, so that may "even" things out a bit with NiMH. I can say, though, with the 13.5 and an Orion LiPo, the car is still faster than a stock brushed car with great NiMH. If you're club racing, you can also shed weight easy with the LiPo to make up for any perceived difference in speed.

LiPo's place isn't to compete head-to-head with NiMH. I know that's how it's being positioned, but it's too different to really make a direct comparison. In the end, it's apples and oranges.

i actually have both 13.5 and lipo the 13.5 id much faster and the lipo has just a little more rip but the main advantage with the lipo vs the nimh are is doesnt drop off toward the end of the run.
