Default MOTOR HELP PLEASE

I have a 8x1 motor that I am having trouble with.
When power is connected to the motor it will not go until you give the armature a little turn then it is away until the motor stops then it won't fire back up until the armature is turned again. The comm has been cut with a new lathe bit and it has new brushes installed.

Can someone help me please.

sounds like a hung brush. Check to see that the brushes move freely in the hoods. Also check the bearing to see that it is not bound up.

Ditto, sounds like the brush spring is hung up on the hood or the brush braid. try pinging the brush, so the brush will make proper contact with the comm.

Check timing, might be way off.
