T2 '007 - Brushless 13.5 - Not enough gear
 
Running a 13.5 in Pro-Stock Rubber Tire asphalt at out track requires a rollout of about 42mm-43mm , maybe even 44mm.

The difficulty with the Xray T2 '007 is that I can't find a small enough spur gear (with larger holes around the outside to access motor screw) to get geared any higher than 38.6mm. With a 112 and a 38, the motor can't move any farther. Thus the need for a smaller spur! I don't think a 108 will even cut it!

Does anyone, preferably someone experiencing this same problem, know of any manufacturer that makes spurs around 96 with the holes all around the outside that will fit the '007?

I run a PRS 100 tooth spur with no problem

The problem with using too small spur is adjusting the gearmesh wont be possible because the spur will cover the inside motor mount screw on the 007. That is why not every type of spurs would do the job. I tried an older type of 96 tooth kimbrough and it was a nightmare.

Try Robinson or RW's Supalite spurs they work fine. They have the holes which allows to access to the mount screw just like the xray ones. I'm not sure that you can go as low as 96 teeth though...

I run a 104t 64p prs spur gear with a 40t pinion. If you use socket screws for the motor, you can get a ball end tip in there to adjust. Yes it is a pain.

The other thing you can do: take the top decks off, and take the layshaft off. Guess where you need the motor then put it there, tighten the screws so it won't move on its own, but will with a little help from you. Put the layshaft back in and adjust the gear mesh, then take it back out and tighten the motor screws completely, then reassemble.

Yes, it is a pain, but where there is a will there is a way.

simpler to put the motor in and tighten one screw when it's meshed with the spur. Then take the layshaft off and tighten the other screw.

In Holland with the 5 cell rule in 19 turn class we all race gearratio's like 3.5. We use 48 pitch without these problems. ( 34 or 35 x 72 )

I am a racer in the standard class in Holland (with Team Orion 19T V2 motor), and I am on a gear ratio of 3.6 - 3.8. And I use spurs from Robitronic (eg Delrin), because I can mount the motor and still be able to adjust it through the holes of this spur. (spur 75 and pinion 34 , which is almost the biggest pinion you can use, because of the upperdeck).

The RW Supalite has very similar design to the robitronic. Also the robinsons have the holes in the right place. These two is available in the US (tower, nexus, ampdraw) the robitronic would be a special order in a good hobby shop I guess...

Actually the RW is Robitronic since RW builts them :) Same goes with pinions
