Hi, just my thoughts:
1. Take time to build the kit (e.g. remove all the slop in the arms, hubs, center the steering, equal weight balance left to right).
2. Buy the right tires for your track.
3. A set of tuned springs. Usually soft in the rear, hard front. 40wt oil ballpark.
4. For power, LIPO stickpack, and probably nothing more than a 13.5T brushless or a 23T brushed motor. Any more power might be too much for the chassis.
A lot of things to speed up a car are usually free (e.g. ride height setting, camber, maintenance, etc).
Good luck.

Your best bet will be ebay. I find stuff there all the time. I just won some Tamiya Porsche Boxster wheels for the M04M that I was looking for for months.

Hi, just wanted to share. Despite its old age, the Tamiya M04 is still the car to beat in the mini class. Won the 2009 and 2010 Futaba Cup using this old car
Running LIPO, 13.5T brushless motors and Sweep 40 tires. Sometimes handful to drive, but still better than the wheelspin of M05s.
Time to try the M06

Bodies
I have heard alot about m04 bodies fitting the m06 by just enlarging the holes by a couple mm, and I was wondering if anyone had tried the reverse. It would be great to be able to utilize all the new bodies that I am sure Tamiya is working on for the m06.
Also, does anyone know the dimensions of the bearings tht would be used to replace the stock bushings? I have found kits online but I cant find the actual dimensions.
Edit: I think i may have found it, can someone confirm that they are 5x11x4? (innerDiameter X outerDiameter X width)
