Default Need to choose a Speed Control

I am new to RC's. I bought a used TC3. The ESC was burned out so I need a new one. I would like to stay under $100. I plan on running at my local parking lot races.

I have read alot about the DuraTrax Streak and the Hitec HFX.

What do you guys suggest? Are these any good for an entry level racer on a wife imposed RC budget.

What ESC's would you suggest?

Your feedback would help.

Thanks.

Both Novak and LRP make budget escs that are good. Look on their Web sites for specs.

I have absolutely no experience, nor heard anything about Duratrax ESC's.

From what I've heard / read, the Hitec HFX has real good value for money. But I havent tried it.

For 90$ at Towerhobbies, you can get the Novak Dually. No motor limit. BEC is 6 volt, meaning 25% faster steering servo, than ESC's with 5 volt BEC. 2 profiles, one for mod and one for stock. At my opinion, it got all what is needed and a little more.

Likewise, I've also heard good things. It costs about $80 from stormer hobbies.

quantum...I blew mine up after 2 race days
I've had several 7.1's and none have ever failed me. I have one for sale in the sale/trade forum if anyone is interested.

RcJohnny...for the price of a Duratrax or Hitec ESC...you can get used high end one for about the same price..

I had a Streak esc. It was very bad. The only good thing about it was the price. I killed it after only 1 year, it died after the first time I raced with it. A lot of people told me I was lucky it lasted that long. I would try the Novak Fusion esc, it's Novak, which are very good, and has down to a 12 turn motor limit. Its only around 70-75 dollars too. Although if yer planning to race mod I don't reccomend this esc. I think the Dually might be a little large for the tc3, it fits but not unless you have a small reciever on it's side or have the reciever mounted on the servo, otherwise I think it might be too big. But I'm not 100% positive.
