Default Good asphalt/concrete tires?

Hey fellas, what would you reccommend as a good, cheap tire for asphalt or concrete oval? My club has been running 4WD touring cars on ovals with the old HPI X-Patterns as our standard tire. They lasted really well on carpet but since we now race at a couple different tracks (1 asphalt, 1 concrete) they are getting worn out pretty quick.

We all need to run on the same tire so what would you guys reccommend for a cheap, strong on-road tire for 4WD oval racing?

I would think one of the companies offering the PreMounted sets

TakeOffs or one of those...something in the 30's.

Concrete and asphault are hard on tires, espescially if it is not super smooth. A premount will probably be your best bet, either Take Off's or Team Sorex. How hot is the track?

Our track is running Take Off CS27 and RP30 for the summer series.

The RP 30's are the tire for HOT asphalt tracks. However, I don't know how they will hold up in Oval Racing!

If you thought X patterns wore out quickly wait till you try the high performance premounts on the market now Since you mentioned the strongest cheap tire is required it's still hard to beat the X radials if your group is satisfied with it's performance. HPI tires don't have the most grip but they do last awhile.
If you guys really want to venture into premounts try and utilize 36 degree tires as these will last you longer.

...you mentioned everyone needs to run the same tire...that's ok, but I'd suggest you run a HARD RF tire.

If you do "PreMounts" you'd have 4 tires, you could do some type of deal where you split up the packs so everyone gets 3 softer compounds and a hard RF tire.

Thanks for the replys everyone

The asphalt lot we use is much newer than the concrete one, and overall it was smoother so it seemed to not chew the tires up as much. We also have tried to make an oval on a local tennis court (100% flat, smooth surface that probably wouldnt wear the tires too much) but every time we go there someone is playing tennis. We had briefly discussed TakeOffs/Sorex as a replacement for the X-Patterns, but we never considered the premounts, basically because of the wear factor. However SWTour's idea isnt bad, so that could be an option.
