What gearing should I be running to start?
Start with a 28 tooth pinion and go up from there!! This may be a little low but I don't know how tight your track is where you race. Are you using the stock spur gear? Also tire weight and inserts also play a factor but 28 should be right around the ball park!! You should be able to find whats best for your track from there!!

I am now running a LRP brushless 13.5.The track I would say is a medium open track as far as track sizes go and I will be running rp 30s.The spur gear is a 95t.What pinion should I use to start out with?
Also how are you guys freeing up the drivetrain??
My car feels pretty tight. The belts arent too tight though.
Thanx in advance.

How do the driveshafts reach then, cause that why i said "its not out yet", as i hear from Serpent that the cvds are at the very outside of the drivecup and they break alot.

So therefor Serpent is working on long outdrives to use the diff as a front diff.

You may have to ask Tim Potter about the brushless stuff I've always ran brushed so I don't have a clue on gearing for that!! As far as freeing up the drivetrain...I have used WD40 on the belt in a plastic bag for 24 hours. I also cleaned all of the bearings with motor cleaner and use 2 drops of mobil one 0W-20 for lubricant. You could use thinner oil like the Serpent bearing oil to make it even more frictionless!! Other than that the only other thing I have done is use aluminum screws everywhere except on the bottom of the chassis!! LOWER THE CG. YOU WILL NOTICE MORE CORNERING SPEED.
Hope all of this helps!!

with the sintered rotor or bonded??
with the sintered rotor i would star with a 50t pinion for a 4.14fdr if you have the bonded rotor start with a 45t and go from there keep the temps around 160 to 170 or with the sintered rotor 150 to 160 with the bonded rotor. The belts sould loosen up after about 8 to 10 runs or so if not soak them over night on wd 40 as stated above

yep it works fine

I ran it twice last week , first time on primafelt carpet and on a rubber type sports floor and it was faster than using a spool and easier to drive , tq'd and won both meetings by a clear lap on second place man

just experimenting with different oils and greases for the optimum set up

Nice,

Does this require lots of shimming?
I guess without ever seeing the car plusminus 2mm?

about 2mm on cell side and 0.5mm on motor side seems to get the belt to run right

Thats good, could i take a 10x15x4mm bearing on the cell side then?

I gain 1mm from that then.

Or am i mistaken that the S400 uses 10x15x3mm bearings at the diffs?

that was my initial idea but when I measured the serpent bearing it was
10 x 15 x 4 yet all parts list show 10 x 15 x 3 ?

so I just used shims
