Best to use the Tamiya CVD's as they are directly interchangable, cheap, and easy to find.

i know but it's just easier for me to get the serpent ones as i don't have to do mail order... there's no tamiya seller here... we only get hpi, hb n serpent (mostly gp)... it's nice to see some s400 parts back onto the shelves...

another alternative is use Yokomo bd5 45.5m bone. But this bone must use with the bd5 crossjoint too....

Default Tip

I was asked to post this to help out the guys trying to find parts for the drive train. I am currently using the front spool pulley and rear Ball diff from the Xray T2 008. This has proven to be stronger in modified racing especially if you buy the steel rear diff.. Because the pulleys are 34 tooth the belts won’t get tight enough for modified unless you use 18 tooth center pulleys from hotbodies made for the cyclone. I have ran this setup for 3 full modified race days with no problems at all. Iv even seen less wear on my belts as well.

Not to be disrespectful, but the car has ALWAYS been fast. Most everyone who has had it, was fast with it. I say WAS, because it is a discontinued car, time to move on. Eventually you guys will have a car that is not much Serpent, and the only parts that remain Serpent are the ones that you can not get, unless you have them milled.

Once again, the car was and is fast...

Hopefully a new S4xx will be along, and we can pick up where we left off

I love, absolutely love this car. What I loved was that you could get a good set up that would be ok where ever you went. An Xray will be superfast at one location and then will need tweaking on the next. The serpent was at least drivable all the time.

Great car/ No confidence in Serpent.

Tim - I saw a video somewhere with your name on it and it was great.

I totally agree with you Tim that the car has a good platform but with all cars that disappear, the fact of the matter that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that most of the cars today are comparable with each other with minimal changes. So yet the car is discontinued, it is clearly a great car that only needs a revamp. Being in Florida, I think you understand the situation with serpent and know that racer are doing what they can do keep this brand alive untill the new kit arrives. Love you man!

Thanks for the props RHH, The "E" car (TM E4) setup is coming along.....Still love serpent.

a few of us here in malaysia is still racing s400, honestly, it's a let down to most of us who has been running serpent but with a bit of xtra patient, u can get parts from ebay or some online shops... i can still get most of the parts... it's easier to get compatible parts ie. tamiya 415 parts, cyclone, xray, etc... i'm still running 100% tamiya parts in my kits, except my rear diff pulley is going to be tamiya 415 unit soon as i only left 1 spare serpent unit... i guess ther r quite some ppl still running their s400, so i hope we can assist each other to keep us going...

it's a capable car, being able to be more capable driver than a pro kit isn't easy... i know i'm not 1... give me any kit, i think i can only use 50% of what it's capable...

So, i'm thinking of just using compatible parts in my S400.

Anyone knows what replacements there are for the S400 suspension plastics ?
I've heard the TRF415 parts fit, is it true ?
And if it is, can i replace them as i go or if i use one part it all has to be tamiya ?

Thanks
