If the belt tension is set right you shouldn't be wearing out gears or belts easilly, in any material.

Is Serpent going to release a new car anytime soon for the Lipo setup?

Hey Joe: according to the Serpent reports, they will not go the route other companies take and release a new car kit every year. From what I've read on euro websites, all they are doing is updating and improving their current car. They have improved the belts, and are now releasing a new bulkhead and top deck which will make fitment of 23-24mm Lipos a piece of cake. But they are doing it the right way: no need to redesign a whole new car and chassis to get after your money, like other companies love to do and its hurting our hobby and turning people off.

A few posts back you can find links to the pictures of the new top deck and bulkhead updates being released soon.

RClocos. Thanks for the info. Do you know if they will do a rolling production change for the S400 kits to accept lipo? Or do you think they will release a service pack for the new bulk head and top deck that customer can order seperately?

They have done rolling production changes on their belts and thrust bearing. But this might be a seperate service pack type upgrade we can get separetely at first...but I'm sure new kits released after the new bulkhead upgrades are released will come with the new updated bulkheads and top deck.

Hopefully we can get an update from a Serpent driver on here or Serpent rep to explain how they gonna handle this

It would be nice if they do the rolling changes for the top deck and bulkhead. I don't need the car until late August early September for my indoor season.

It seems like Serpent has made a lot of effort to strengthen their position in carpet racing.

How is the S400 running rubber on carpet? Do I need to replace the spool with either the diff or one way?

It worked great for Bart Wubben at the snowbirds, winning the outlaw rubber class. I think he was running a spool, but I'm not 100% sure.

Ran the car again this afternoon at our home track in Coral Springs, FL. Track was clean and we had med traction today with nice clear weather around 80F with 15mph winds.

Well, the S400 was at it again. It continues work great. It was the fastest car on the track today once again. It just attacks the corners and can just scoot in and shoot right out quickly and is very agile and easy to drive agressive. It was very sharp and forced the competition to drive very defensive style to try keeping from passing them. I just played it safe and stayed on their bumpers and then would pass on the outside or quickly shoot back in for the inside position after faking the outside...it was fun.

Glad to see yet again how versatile the car is on hight traction tracks and low-med traction tracks. With my set-up now all I gotta do is play with the front shock position and the car is dialed for the different traction levels.

Cant wait to run at the super high traction MDI track in Royal Palm Beach this Wed night and continue were it left off

Man, are you a Serpent driver? You write reports like them pros. Good read and very encouraging. They make me wanna get one. I'm kinda holding back till I hear more about the new bulkhead and top deck release though. I got some Trakpower 4900 Lipos and want to get them to fit with no pblms.

Although might just sell them off and get me some SMC 4000 and just get the S400. Car looks sweet and seems like its really smoking every body.

My girl's dad is a Serpent fan and drives Serpent 720. He gets discounts and could hook me up with a S400. What parts should I get for spares and what Speed control you all recommend for 13.5 and 10.5...cause I'm tired of my GTB already. Need something new.
