After further review of the video footage and the JLap timing sheet, it would seem that the "Monkey" on my back needs to stay, even for a little while.

Conner got mixed up when the track rail jumped out and hit his car. Even after going in circles he was only about 2 seconds behind me at the checkers.

I've got the vids rendered, just need to get them on DVD and YouTube. Very exciting.

When in July is this race? I might be able to make it.

Thanks Victor. Great newz alright. Looks even better with the thinner longer top deck. Is it a 2mm top deck? Are the new rear bulkheads a bit higher to allow better fitment of of Lipos better?

When are the new parts being released?

Hmmm...It doesnt seem like the S400 kit oil is 50cst...maybe its 600cst, since serpent doesnt seem to make a 500cst oil, according to their site:http://www.serpent.com/product/1679/

30W (350cst)
35W (600cst),
40W (1000cst)
45W (1400cst)

But the manual lists a 500cst oil in parts list section on back

yohan that long top deck looks to eliminate the stub of bulkhead that keeps lipos from fiting all together without having to raise the deck... if you raise the back you'd have to raise the front and find a way to keep the bellcrank in there too.. must also require larger center pulleys as i don't think the belt would otherwise clear?

IF the "updated" S400 can fit the Orion 4800 or the Checkpoint 5400 with Verndogs Lipo weights, I think I may replace my TC5 with one

i think d new thinner upper deck is to make d car more flex which suitable in low traction track....

great to hear that they come out with LIPO bulkhead...

anyone r using LRP vector x11 BL motor ? wat is d different btwn LRP Vector and Orion Vortex ??

Hi Jason: the way it is now, the SMC4000 packs fit perfectly. No mods necessary. However, anything above 22mm will not fit, and its a problem since most 5000 Lipo packs are around 23.5mm tall.

On the new one, one way to raise the back and front is with shims. a 1mm or 1.5mm shim on all 4 corners, plus one on top of the bell crank. It should work OK. This is what was done with Xray T2'007 and E4.

But I think the newer design does take care of clearance issues, like you mentioned. It looks so much sleeker and elegant. Xray '008 have very similar top deck, as well as the new Kyosho '008 prototype.

Hi Victor: I noticed the S400 front drive is different: is that a new design spool up front?

The LRP motors have more torque out of the box but slightly less RPM than Novak and Orion Motors. BUt once you gear the LRPs right, they are exellent. The Orion motors you need to use more teeth on the pinion to get them up to speed. They run cooler as well due to the cooling holes on their can.

Either one is really good. After testing both systems, the LRP Sphere TC with Orion 3.5 or 4.5 Motors is really good combo.

Hmmm...I think that the new bulkheads and top deck design will defenitely get the Lipos to fit OK(Orion 4800 sizes). at worst case, just add 1-2mm shims and raise the top deck.

About the belts clearing: the HB 18T pulleys should take care of that if its really needed.

Hope to see ya next week with your S400...I heard you got one, too?

I agree...but the LRP 4.5 is not as fast as Novak and Orion 4.5. The 3.5 from LRP is on par with Novak and Orion...but the Speed Passion GT and LRP Sphere with Novak or Orion motors with good Lipos will blow the doors off most other systems
