The car is tough, but doesn't handle well, and won't compete with many other tourers. Is there a track near you that has Tamiya competitions? If so you may want to get him a TL01 XB, at $160 you can't beat it.

RTR TC3 for $239 at Tower Hobbies. A great touring car to start out with and every bit as competitive (chassis-wise) as the high bucks TCs.

The best choice, like Racer Tex said, is the RTR TC3. That is a great price from Tower Hobbies. Also the car will handle better out of the box, parts are more readily available for the TC3 (which is necessary for a beginner), and it is competitive for racing in the future. Plus there are many cool hop-ups available to upgrade and trick it out.

When was the last time you saw an MR4TC custom...RTR for under $200.... I also agree if you can swing the extra coin, then Get the TC3 RTR.

Yea, I did want my lil bro to get a TC3 RTR and it comes with a 19 turn motor with a ESC. I also heard a lot about it. BTW My local hobby shop has them for 200, I get a lil discount But My lil bro like how the way the 4tec look, with the wheels and body. I think I will tell him to get a RTR TC3. I will post up later on what will he get. Thanks for the help guys

Also what is with the MR4-TC costom? Never heard of the costom one ever before. (Dont really know too much about Yokomo)

the custom is a 'hopped up' version of the standard mr4. its got stuff like the 1 piece backbone, swaybar and other 'essential' goodies.

try going to the cmlwebsite at www.cmldistribution.com
