Yes the PTX has user-replaceable wires.
Is this still true?? The user-replaceable wires part?? Is there any difficulty to it???

yeah, I checked it out there. But the only affoardable option didn't even give a time frame for delivery. Simply saying "varies"

Considering how long it takes USPS to deliver stuff when they DO give a delivery time, it scares the crap out of me to think of what they do when they don't!

It's that, or pay $40 for a courier to ship it. With honest people on both ends, the postal service works 99.9% of the time. When the folks on both ends stand to profit from claiming it was never received or really did ship, that delivery rate drops to more like 85%. It's really quite remarkable.

Sorry Andrew, been busy all week again.. to answer your question the lead can be replaced you just need to remove the screws on the base fit a new lead and refit the base.

I know the bottom is removed . . .but it looks like the PCB including the leads are embedded in silicon (I assume for waterproofing). Does anyone have more details on the lead replacement?

andrew, I just took mine apart and have the same questions. Do I have to get medieval on that silicone, then replace the wires, then put new silicone in? The silicone doesn't want to lift out in one piece.

So here's an oddball question for you. I just had a bunch of my gear stolen including my 2 transponders. I think the answer is no but is there any way to provide you with those numbers and have new PTX transponders made with those numbers?

Andrew YGPM.

Andrew and Adam more details..

PTX Lead Replacement
To replace the lead it should be cut allowing enough length to solder on a new lead under the base.
The two solder connections should be insulated and the joints need to be under the base outside of the silicone waterproofing. If you're not confident to replace the lead we can replace it if required. There is a charge to cover the cost of the lead, fitting and return.

NOTE: DO NOT REMOVE THE SILICONE WATERPROOFING!

Hi Gary, unless you've sent your PT to us for cloning there's no way to have cloned transponders made with those numbers.
