Tamiya TA05-R 49418
Three kits just came in at my LHS, anyone built the car already? On the box it says carbon damper stay, but the picture doesn't show the usual woven graphite carbon shock towers. So I'm curious maybe it's the carbon composit material, finally tamiya's site did not say whether the chassis is the lightweight carbon reinforced one or regular chassis.
Thanks

My T2 drivetrain is so free...it's not even funny. I've had a few belt cars before, but none this free. I really like the car...and I've had nothing but Tamiys for a few years.
Did I mention how expensive X-ray parts are????

Am considering a TA-05R also when it hit the local hobby shops here...

When I saw this kit in SpeedtechRC I just about went mad when I saw and read what it has and for what price. I started from TA05 a year ago and a few months sold it and got T2. So right now to see TA05R for such price is making me almost spend money on this kit for TCS competitions, but I like my T2 and I can't really allow my self to race two cars.

Dogbones, plastic shocks and steering, all the soft suspension arms, plastic everywhere. You'd easily spend the price of an MSX fixing it up. I suppose it REALLY doesn't need it, but what fun is that?
This would save some money (a lot actually) and I wouldn't have the pile of POS stock parts to stockpile.

Just picked up a TA05R,
It is loaded with goodies. however the shock towers are not wooven carbon,
Gary at Tamiya just told me that they were molded carbon reinforced. I'll probably start the build before this week end. if I'm lucky, my shake down run will be this weekend or next, probably next. at Tamiya test track.

Just got mine in the mail today! After being away from racing for about five years, I decided to finally enter that TCS race that I always wanted to do and the TA05R is just perfect for GT2!
I love the "no-frills" orange colored box this bad boy came in! As soon as you open it, you immedietly notice the lack of usual Tamiya "flair" inside the box. There is nothing but bags of parts in an orange box! It screams "build me and dominate!!!"
On a side note: I love that Tamiya is actually a contender in the racing scene these days. I remember putting my "TA02w racing chassis" down on the grid competing against tricked out RS4's and YR4's and thought of how I so wanted Tamiya to be more competative. Since TRF has really stepped-up, I can't wait to beat guys with my Tamiya!!!
