I have been told that you do not want to zap the magnets of a silver can motor. If you do you increase the torque and reduce the rpms. Which is counter-productive in spec fixed ratio racing. When I first started racing silver can motors, I put a torque sleave on my silver can motor to increase the magnetic field. I found the car faster without the sleave.
