Robinson Racing Pinion Gear ??

Was looking at getting a pinion gear and I noticed this Robinson Racing Pinion Gear. Why is one half got longer teeth than the other?

THE SIDE WITH THE TaLLER TEETH IS THE SIDE THAT SITS ON THE SPUR GEAR.. tHE SIDE WITH THE LOW CUTOUTS, NOT TEETH IS FOR LOOKS..

The pinion is so small that when they machined it it left the teeth engraved marks on the smaller end as well. This is normal just the leftover look from the production process.
