Which type of ball diff grease did you use? I found the Associated grease to be much better than the Tamiya grease. Also how often to you rebuild your diff? It may get dirty and very gritty, giving the diff an unsmooth feeling.

Sanding the diff rings with 600 grit sandpaper improved the feel of my diff. I've heard some guys say that sanding the rings isn't a good idea, but it's been working out for me.

Just some ideas... I hope this helps out.

what do you mean by it just fit sooo tightttt??? So, it will work with the 05ms??? I use the same ball diff as you use but I don't get any problems like yours... Or never did sanded my diff rings too... So maybe, it is just to untighten or vice versa...

the belts for 05ms are too tight for 18t center pulley.. it will need a much longer belt to fit it right... so im thinking if i will put the ta05 belt(not ta05ms belt) maybe it will fit.. any suggestions guys on how to modify this case...?????

Is anybody who can compare different belts like they already did with MSX/MRE 18t middle pulley fixing.

Fact is that, at diff goes griddy pretty soon if you drive it too loose.. especially low mod motors

oh, I see... But isn't the 05 belt itself is equal compared to 05ms??? So meaning to say, it won't fit... Even with some modifications... Right??? But who knows unless we try it...

Hey I found the TA05MS setup sheet somewhere on Tamiya's Japan website, but I couldn't find it again. Luckily, I saved the setup sheet on my comp.

If anyone wants a .pdf copy of the setup sheet, go here: http://www2.hawaii.edu/~uechik/ta05ms_blank.pdf

nikki

I just found something. Original 501x belt is #51285 363mm and it fit front and rear.

New longer belt is # 53987 369mm and it must use with #53988 37t diffpulley and #53989 18t middle pulley. Is that 369mm long belt to MS front when change 18t middlepulley?

Hope that help?

Hey guys, I just counted the front belt of the 05ms and guess what, it has 124 teeth to be exact... Unfortunately, forgot to count the rear belt's teeth... But assuming, it would be 112 teeth...

ohh, if im correct the 501's motor position is at forward position so therefore maybe the 501's motor bulkhead is slighty infront (while the ta05ms is moved a little further at the rear position.. so there is a possibility that it will fit if we will use the 18t center pulley and 37diff pulley and try the 501's front belt and replace the 05ms rear belt and the 501's rear belt to be put in 05ms front belt.

here's the idea...
trf 501x front belt --(will be put at)--> 05ms rear belt
trf 501x rear belt --(will be put at)--> 05ms front belt

and i think if we'll try the 37balldiff pulley its like a 16 ball diff also.. but only 15 balls but the spacing and the used space is at the outermost part of the pulley.....
