hey all:Read on another site that tamiya may introduce a trf416 1/10th 4wd sedan in '07 or early '08 can anyone confirm this and or have info on this? thanks :spidey:

I think the source is some speculation on rczone.net when they reviewed a Kawada chassis conversion for the TA05.
Nothing confirmed to the public, however my gut feeling is that the limited edition Porsche 934 TA05 shows a few of the features that might appear on a TRF416. |
The car is real. Not sure if it actually runs better but it looks prepared for a LiPo future.

I tell you what, this could be my car next year......Even though I am winning with a PRO 4 against Xray 07 euros, I am waiting for the future car to get here...and this car, designed for BL, LIPO and rubber tires could be it......
I am going to wait to see if Xrays 08 is geared towards american OUTDOOR racing....if not, the tamiya is the ticket....... |

Oh its faster! ITs new it has to be faster! All new cars are faster!! You watch everyone that buys one will say they are so much faster! But wont back it up with lap times :) LOL

I have the 415MSX and it's not possible to fit a flat LiPo pack (of decent capacity) under the rear bulkhead. I can barely fit the Orion Carbon 3200mah if I grind away the arches above the battery to flatten them but I'm not sure how much this weakens the bulkhead as my grinding gets close to the bearing holder (so this bit of alloy between where the bearing holder ends and the battery begins gets pretty thin). So far, no problems but it does look a bit scary. Thicker packs like today's 4800mah and 5000mah packs are out of the question unless you don't mind having the battery on the outside of the bulkhead (moving weight away from the centre, sacrificing one of the advantages of the stock layout).
Before the photos were released, many people were expecting weight to be moved forward. The 416 has the motor, spur, and centre shaft, shaft bearings and bearing holders moved a bit to the rear. Tamiya claims this is done for traction. I don't know about that but I do know it clears up some room for the battery. Also, this clears up a bit of space on the electronics side so you can fit a chunky ESC in easier. Also bear in mind that this car will be here almost the same time as the TRF415 MSXX MRE. Which one will TRF drivers be running in big non-LiPo races? Which one will dominate if battery rules change? We shall see. |
