Default QUick TL-01 Gearing Question

I just put a P2K2 stock motor in my TL-01 with a 23T pinion and the stock gears. I noticed the motor gets really hot, is it geared to high, or is a heatsink needed since its in kind of a tight space? I also have a CO Monster Stock Motor coming for it, will it be safe with the 23T pinion as well? I am running an IB4200 Battery and an LRP Super Reverse Digital ESC. Thanks

I think you might be overgeared

What you should do is try it with the 21, it should make the motor run cooler, if it does, then try the 19, if it gets warmer than the 21, use the 21, if not continue with the 19

If I get the Speed tuned gear set, and then use the 19 on the motor, will that be OK, or am I defeating the purpose? I had the 19 on it initially, with the stock gears and the motor got warm, but it wasn't the speed I was looking for. I have a 21 coming in the mail for another car, so I will try that.

If its getting hot already then the speed tuned gear set will only make it worse.
If speed is what you are after you might want to get a faster motor, maybe a 19t or a mild modified, something like a 15x2 or a 13x2.

I put the speed tuned gear set in, 19T pinion and the CO Monster Stock Motor, and it seems to run cooler than my p2k2 with the stock gears. I am assuming the CO is just a better motor for the type of driving I am doing than the P2K2. Thanks for your help.
