Depends on what you are looking for:

Personally, I have found the old Reedy Sonic 2's to be the most brutal torque motors available, the newer Ti's also are very fast.... but tend to wear out faster than other motors.

The Orion motors are also incredibly fast...

If I was in the market for a new motor at this time, I would pick up the new Kr Reedy motors... seem to have an amazing power band!!

Stormer Hobbies www.stormerhobbies.com

While you're at Stormer, check out Axiom Racing Motors. They have modifieds that will be plenty fast for you. They have an 11x2 Ti and 11x1 Core in stock there. While you're there get some Reedy 729 Quasars for the either motor, keep the stock springs.

But here's what i would recommend second:
10x1 Trinity D5, 4380EPNT brush with purple springs.

They all are pretty much good. I think the LUNA motors from Japan in the Reedy ti cans are the best over the counters you can buy. They will run with pretty much with any motor at a national level.
They also have a machine wound motor that has been rated if not the best in a r/c car magazine. Price is right also around $43.00 Great for club level racing.

Basically same as other tuned ones out there but the arms are handwound and then balanced on a 3d balancer.

Yeah. I've only heard of Luna motors. I've never seen any dyno #'s or anyone run them, Not even any detailed opinions.

Corally motors are my favourites.

I geuss it depends what feel you're looking for.
These motors are very powerfull but in a smooth way.
Also they are wound very nice and also (thus) very efficient.
