As some of the others have said, I'd start at about 2 teeth less on the pinion(try a 29 tooth to start), though as Eddie said, stock motors tend to vary from one to another(even when all are the same kind, I've seen Co27's that rev like an X-Stock, & I've seen X-Stocks that rev more like Co27's, though their torque didn't look any better). But starting with a 29 tooth should give you something to work off of, just try it & keep a close eye on your car(& on motor temps), if it seems to need more room to top out or if it's getting too hot, then gear down more, or if it's topping out early, try going back up a bit, just don't let it get too hot(I wouldn't want one to get any hotter than 170 degrees, but I know some guys will, that's just my preference)....

the one i looked at at the track said 21,000-ish rpm, 65 watts, and was pulling 16.4 amps, how does that sound for road course (now, offroad in a month tho)

omg...my rollout is 21.82, with 100 tooth spur, 31 pinion, 56mm tires, 2.5:1 trans.......i think i can gear my co27 alittle more...its saying 37 tooth for a 26.04.....everyone is running 26-27 here too...good and i still ran 26 (my second week ever driving a tc - big change from a 2wd offroad) and the fast guys where running 29....

I run 23-24mm rollout on carpet foam on small and medium tracks. [touring car, co27].
