Default Battle of the SHAFT!!! Tamiya TB Evo3 vs. Yokomo MR4 SD

I see all the Yokomo guys in the TB Evo3 thread, ranting about their new shaft drive. WOW... IT"S SSG! Imma admit, the chassis is pretty.. But that's all it is.. I don't quite think that the imitator will be faster than the innovator (Tamiya shaft drives started it all!) so tell me wat u think.. Evo3, or MR4-SD?? which is better??

The Yokomo SD car is a pretty car. Really smooth. However, I've noticed on Tosolini's car that the dog bones still have the weird angles on them. Every tamiya driver out here almost abandoned their 414 and switched to the Evo3. That also is a great car. Hard to decide which is better. 90% of the car is the driver!

I don't think they adbandoned the 414. It's more likely that Tamiya is now promoting the Evo3 more than any other car in their series. What's the best way to promote the car? Ask all your team drive to use it, of course.

414 won tamiya the world champ title. It's a very capable car. It's just the time for the Evo3 to shine.

Even before Evo3's release, Surikarn already said it was smoother than the 414 from the start. David Jun says it now too.. I still havne't heard any factory drivers talk about the new yokomo.. anyone wanna give me a verdict?

Check out the Yokomo MR4TC-SD thread for a few factory drivers' impressions of the car (which they just received last week).

Well tonight's the fight that you've been waiting for. 19T spec at socal in preparation for the Reedy Race. There'll be a pretty big contigent of all the cars that you guys mentioned below. Evo3's, Barracuda's and yes the new Yokomo SD should all be there!

Hmmm. Sometimes all this shaft-debate almost sounds like you guys believe that a shaft car will automatically take you to the podium.

Shaft drive WILL take u to the podeum... didn't u know that? lol.. BTW.. didn't ofna come out w/ a new shaft drive too or something?? but out of all of them, TB Evo3 will still rule, thank you very much.. The reason Tamiya comes w/ so many gears... Wouldn't u want spares in the box so u don't have to buy it? Yes, true Bevel gear problems.. But not only is the Evo3 fast, it's also a tank.. Best crafted car, rarely if ever breaks parts. At it's performance level, I haven't heard of anything else that has broken except for the stripped bevel gears, which can be fixed. so I too, would b goin w/ the TB Evo3
