My ex girlfriend hated it for all it was worth, i had to do the hide money, lie, tear up reciepts ect... just so i didnt have to hear it from her. My fiance know though doesnt mind it, she doesnt quite understand my fascination with them, but hell she is the one who bought me my Savage SS kit.

I can understand not understanding the fascination with it, but I do not understand the "I hate it so you should too" mentality of some women. So your boyfriend has a hobby ... I suggest you yourself try one. My girlfriend doesn't fully understand racing, world of warcraft, or football but she doesn't deny me those things. Any girlfriend/boyfriend that does that to the other person isn't worth being with.

..unless she is a total 10 w/ HUGE boobs and puts out like crazy...then it's acceptable..but girls like that don't roll with losers into r/c cars.

From my experience it has been about moderation. If you go racing every weekend with the guys what woman could understand your racing obsession. Most women want to feel more important than any hobby you have. That includes spending money, time and emotions.

Before I got married I did iron all this out, went through a trial period of adjustment. I told her that I would not quit the hobby, that I saw it as a life-long thing. Some women want to change you before they accept anything you do. Many cases it becomes unreasonable and you looked at those guys as whipped who do all the changing and giving up. If she cannot except your RC hobbies, you are better off without her.

My wife does not race but will goto races and find other things to do. Which is great, when you can center a vacation around a RC event of sorts. The only way that happens is if you learn how to juggle time between women/wifes/girlfriends and hobbies.

My girlfriend doesn't like it but she comes does come and watch me on occasion. She calls me a geek though!

My step-mum used to go with my dad when he raced. She even got herself a car and started to race against him. She wasn't bad at it either. Once he bumped into her in the finals and she refused to cook him dinner because of it!!!

My wife comes to watch occasionally. She knows she can't change any of it because I was doing it before we got together. It's a constent that she has excepted. She doesn't like weekend racing a whole lot. So I have to compromise. I don't want her to hate it and fight on everything. I have several side gigs going to help pay for stuff, so she doesn't really know how much some of it costs. I don't hide it, but if she doesn't ask...

I am blessed with a wife who appreciates that we all have things we like to do for entertainment and recreation. She likes to scrapbook and I like to race R/C cars, play sports, etc. I tend to get kind of obsessive about things I enjoy, and naturally when I do she's concerned about me and doesn't like it. Actually in that way, she is a great help to encourage me to enjoy things in moderation. So I am glad she doesn't always support me going racing all the time and spending as much money on R/C as otherwise I probably would. I probably get to race every 3 weeks in winter and most weekends in the summer. Of course that's working around the more important things like my wife, kids, work, church, gym, etc. She even comes once in a while to watch (although I know she's bored silly most of the time, she does it because she loves me) and even has come out to do a powderpuff race (which she really enjoyed, and plans to return again). And sometimes, when I am working on my stuff in the basement (laundry room) between doing laundry, she will come and sit down with me and we talk while I work. I really like that.

That sounds just like my wife. I'm her geek. Kristen loves that I have something that I'm passionate about and that I can enjoy and get away from the stress of work. I usually am the one who feels a little guilty and will sacrifice a race day or something to spend with her before she would ever complain.

But she has absolutely no interest in ever being involved. She'll come by our local track if she's in the area when I'm racing and she comes to Reedy to watch on Saturday and Vegas. But that's it. I'll never get her to a nitro off road race. The sound and smell would kill her.

Sure those women are into RC...just look at XtremeRC magazine...there's a new one in there every month.
