Default Battery charging

When you buy a new battery pack, for example a 5 cell AAA reciever pack, does it need to be cycled to get it to charge to full capacity in future?

I race 1/8th scale on road, and would just like to know how to best take care of the reciever battery, so as to get the most run time out of it.

Should it be cycled on its first charge? And how much?
How many amps can it be fast charged at? (the packs are normally 900/1000mah)

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
