hi i drift a trf 415 and ss5800 ss+ system. after about 2 mins of drifting in the garage my esc and esc capacitor get excesivley hot. i have got the gear ratio right (7:3:1) and even tried ratios that would be a lil easier on the esc. but it still gets hot ??? wothe esc gets loads of ventalation. so im out of ideas has any one else come acros s this problem and how did u over come it? i rely dont want to by another esc.

One thing to try if the speedo is getting hot is to turn the timing down.

I could be that you just have your gear ratio wrong for your application and driving style.
the 7.3 gear ratio is given for road course racing applications.
For drifting you might want to try to play around with your gear ratio a bit.
If you are concerned that it is damaged... have you ever had to give it a push start or anything of the like? If the motor can spin under resistance at very low rpm you probably haven't damaged the ESC.
If you are still concerned about the heat you can put a fan on the ESC and that will keep it cooler and prevent most damage from occuring.
