hi i drift a trf 415 and ss5800 ss+ system. after about 2 mins of drifting in the garage my esc and esc capacitor get excesivley hot. i have got the gear ratio right (7:3:1) and even tried ratios that would be a lil easier on the esc. but it still gets hot ??? wothe esc gets loads of ventalation. so im out of ideas has any one else come acros s this problem and how did u over come it? i rely dont want to by another esc.

For drifting, I'd run closer to 10 as a ratio, remember you're always on the throttle pushing hard!

i dont , iv been drifting for about 2 years now i feather the throttle a bit more i dont hold it flat stik,

I've had that happen before and it was a blown FET in the speedo. It won't run like it usually does and it gets really hot really fast.

I would think it would be really hard to tell the power loss on drifting tires in the garage, but you'd know better than I.

i havnt noticed any power difference but will the esc become more damaged or become unusable if i continue ??

One thing to try if the speedo is getting hot is to turn the timing down.

I could be that you just have your gear ratio wrong for your application and driving style.

the 7.3 gear ratio is given for road course racing applications.

For drifting you might want to try to play around with your gear ratio a bit.

If you are concerned that it is damaged... have you ever had to give it a push start or anything of the like? If the motor can spin under resistance at very low rpm you probably haven't damaged the ESC.

If you are still concerned about the heat you can put a fan on the ESC and that will keep it cooler and prevent most damage from occuring.

thanx steve the push start thingy happend to my last esc sio i had to buy areplacment, this one so i dont want it to break thats all
