Default Duratrax ICE or Super Brain 989

I'm looking to buy a new battery charger, it seems like the ICE and the 989 are both good chargers with many nice features. They both cost about the same, 129 for ICE and 139 for 989 (w/ 10A PS), and theyre list of features seems similar.

Heres a couple links for lists of features:
989 - http://www.modelrectifier.com/search...ew.asp?ID=6863
ICE - http://www.duratrax.com/caraccys/dtxp4170.html

Can anyone give me an idea which charger I should buy.
Thanks!

I have an ICE and charge everything with it, including LiPos. Works awesome.

I've heard great things about both chargers but judging by price I assume the ICE is the "better" since its 129 for the charger alone, the 989 is 139 with a 10A power supply. So 139 - about 30 or 40 bucks makes it a 100 dollar charger.

I forgot to mention earlier that I have been leaving toward the 989 simply because of the included power supply. But I'm still interested in hearing on what people think of these chargers and which one is the better buy.

I just got a superbrain, and its a great value. it works very well, and can do everything i need. the ice obviously works great too. you cant go wrong with either of them!!! but maybe we should compare them.

Cells: ICE: 1-10 nicd nimh, 1-4 lipo/ion 989: 1-25 nicd nimh, 1-8 lipo/ion, 1-6 cell gelcell/ lead acid

max charge amps: ICE: 8.(1c max lipo) 989: 10.(1.2c lipo)

max discharge amps: both 10

max bat. capacity: ICE: 9900mah. 989: 19900mah

Battery profiles: ICE:10. 989: 24

tempurature cuttoff: both yes.

Auto Cycle mode: both yes.

digital power supply for tire truer, comm lathe, etc. : ICE: no 989: yes

motor break in feature: both yes.

168 charactor screen: ice: yes. 989: no.

basic functions ( adjustable peak sensitivity, trickle rates, etc.): both yes.

comes with power supply and temp sensor: ICE: no. 989: yes

they are both great chargers, and they both should do everything you would ever need. im never going to need to charge a 25 cell pack, now will I? and i wouldnt need to charge a battery at 10 amps...

good luck!

I use my buddy's ice all the time. If it would charge 2 more cells(12) and was A/C too. I would never give it back. So 989 here i come.
