You can order spare parts from Japan...getting a few parts from there until Steve is all stocked up.

As the event isn't ROAR or NORRCA sanctioned - there should be no reason why 3300's aren't legal.

It isn't specifically noted I think but IIRC the race basically follows ROAR rules - there is a minimum weight, minimum body/maximum wing heights, etc. I don't know what they'd say about 3300's but you may want to call Tamiya to be sure, and mention that the website may want to be updated with that info if necessary.

edit: Actually, here is the only mention of rules on the Tamiya page:
Quote:
Race Rules

The no one-way rule will be used again for this year. All cars must have four wheel drive and four wheel braking. Tire additives are allowed. Minimum car weight, car width and minimum roof heights will be enforced. Those exact numbers will be posted at tech during practice days. Those numbers as well as more detailed event rules will be included in the racer confirmation letter.
The car weight and car/body dimensions for last year matched the ROAR rules for the ROAR 2002 rules, not sure if the Reedy Race rules will be updated to the ROAR 2003 (I think ROAR changed the wing max. ht. rule).

didn't RAOR just add GP 3300 to the list?

don't know about SANYO's though..

Quote:
Recently Approved Battery
The following batteries have been approved for use in ROAR competition effective 01/6/2003:

GP330SCHR- Rainbow colored label.

Powers R 3300- Royal Blue shrink w/ white, red, yellow lettering.

Yokomo Z3300HVR- Light Metallic Blue shrink saying Zap-2 w/ yellow "Z" background.

GP330SCHC- 2/3 Green and 1/3 Orange (neg. end) label.

Note: The manufacturer, GP, has agreed that future production cells will meet the maximum length of 43 mm and has submitted samples that meet the dimensions. Previously submitted cells matching above model number and description, that were too long are being "grandfathered" in, on a ONE time basis for the benefit of our members who purchased cells before their approval. Because this new cell manufacturer has provided different labels to different resellers, each cell label type must be submitted for approval, if different from above. In addition, all previously submitted and approved cells are to have their approval status continued.
update to add ROAR info

Thumbs up

I'm sure if Reedy sells the batteries that they will allow them.

Dayz are coming fast!

Time is getting short, days are getting longer, skillz are being polished and I'm in the Lab!

Please pass with caution, the driver has a nervous twitch.

The Sanyo 3300 cell has been approved by ROAR. Look further down the list on ROAR's site. I believe they [S3300] were approved around December 2002.

They will more than likely have the penalty box again for stop and goes this year and I would advise against nervous twitching during passes The Reedy Race cops may bust you and send you in.

Looking forward to the J-Main haha

While the penalty box is a great idea.... nothing like getting punted while passing a lapper and sent to the penalty box!!!

Has anyone received their confirmation packet yet?? Clearly we know who is in... from the "official" list on Tamiya's website...

As for the 3300's, yes, both have been approved by ROAR, the sanyos were approved on the first of the year and the GP's were approved on the 6th of January.

regards,
Wilde

[email protected] WeaponR - I would make the assumption that the motors are going to be the same as last year - despite the fact that Reedy is coming out with a new 19T motor with a can similar to the Krypton...

Btw - I still need the information for the parts on the Cougar!! I know that I have your card somewhere.... one of these days I will have to take care of it!

From what I hear from the AE camp, they are using the same motor. However, Barry was driving the new quad 19T here at Socal raceway and nobody could touch him. In fact, he was almost getting the same lap times at Brian Kinwald who was running a low turn D5.
