SMART TRAY,SMART TRAY SPECIAL EDITION,TRINITY DPD,CTX D2,CTX D2 RHEINHARD EDITION?
looking to buy the best discharger. wondering what the difference between them and what makes one better than the other?IF if anyone has specs could you please post them.

well the ctxd2 and the cdxd2 rheinhard are the same.
the smart tray and the smart tray special,the special holds the volts at the discharge point.
the dpd discharges the hole pack to a point then cell buy cell,i dont like this.but it is portable and dose not need a 12v supply.

I use the Spintec battery manager v2 for discharging, and the Novak smart tray for balancing. The trinity dpd and the ctx-d2 both discharge the same as the battery manager (pulse discharge) the only major differences are the amp rate and that the battery manager discharges the entire pack not individual cells. The trinity dpd and the ctx-d2 will also balance the pack when the first cell hits its cutoff voltage from pulse discharge where as the batman does not, this is why I use the smart tray. But seeing that I use them at different points in time I like the fact that my balancer and discharger are different. When I am done racing my batteries go on the batman. When done they get a 10-20% charge put in them. The next time I go out they get balanced on my smart tray then charged.
To answer your questions, you would be wise to get a pulse discharger, it more accurately simulates your batteries being used (if you can follow that). The dpd and the ctx-d2 are great candidates if you want both balancing and discharging in one piece of equipment. Price wise the ctx-d2 is, well I am sure you know, expensive. The dpd will cost about the same as a new batman v2 and a used smart tray. Needless to say I am biased towards what I use, but I have heard good things about the trinity dpd.

Pretty happy with my DPD's. Good bang for the buck - you get a lot of the features in the higher end units without the price. Obviously, not as fancy, slightly less features and so forth, but for the money I am totally happy.

the much more on 30A pulse stays pulse till the last cell and dose cell by cell,and the dpd dose all cells together to a point then cell by cell.
the spintec or trinity dyna pulse has a hight pulse rate and only gos down to a point and thats it.(the cells are not equalized)
the novak discharges at a low rate so the cells tend to stay low when done discharging but like the spintec and the dyna pulse they take a long time.
now the new novak keeps the cells at a given volt till there all done discharging.
and ya the much more costs an arm.
