Default Best deal in a TC carpet racer, Cyclone

Two deals have caught my interest. The $200 Hot Bodies Cyclone and the $275 Tamiya TRF415 (with body.) Which would you choose and why?...or is there even a better deal around?

There is no better deal anywhere. I'm a Tamiya fan so I'd say the TRF415 but the Cyclone rocks too. The Cyclone would probably have better parts support from hobby shops though.

i did some reaserch about this same thing, because i wanted to do a little tc racing but not blow my whole bank on it.. I found the new fiberglass xray car to be the best choice.. i know it wasnt on your list but it has the goods..

the cyclone to me looks way to toy like..., and i did not see the tamiya, however there cars generally do well, so its prolly more worth your while..

I will assure you the cyclone is not a toy. You can have basically the same car I won the snowbirds with for about the cost of any of the other top end cars.

Cyclone 200
BMI kit 120?
Extra diff 35
Rear 1.5 block front 0 degree 20
Fixed pulley and layshaft 25
6 degree C Hubs
Optional pdub bumper

Around 425 bucks, for a high quality machine and throw a good setup on it and it will be fast and easy to drive.

I considered the XRay T2R, which can be found for about $200...but I figured that was more comparable to the Cyclone S. Hmmmm...the more I look at it, the more I like it. I haven't look at the XRay since the T1R. The T2R looks substantially upgraded.

XRay at RC Shack

I think the best "deal" is the graphite Cyclone for $200
https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...0&showbig=6809

The Cyclone S is a capable car too ($170/$160)...
https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...ns&pn=HOT66403
https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...ns&pn=HOT66405

And the $200 T2R may be a better choice (over the Cyclone S anyway) for carpet
https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/c...s&pn=XRA300101

My personal experience... at the start of this years carpet season I was running the Cyclone S (pretty much box stock). Yesterday, I ran my T2R for the first time; ran one more lap and dropped my best and average lap times.

T2R is out of stock at Stormers and The RC Shack. Leaning toward Cyclone now. I do really like XRay cars though. Have zero issues with M18 other than part availability. Haven't found a local place that stocks 'em yet.

The T2R will be out of stock until sometime this summer according to the XRay website. They did not anticipate the demand and the next batch won't be ready til summer

If you find a T2R for around 200 I would say you better pick it up. The price of the car went up.
