I ran practice at Peel It today, started out with used, only run on carpet, Sorex 28 premounts and they got overheated and squirmy, went to a set of 1 run used Sorex 32 premounts and they were hooked up in 19t.
Sean did a great Tamiya layout with a dot for the widows peak, just as effective
The traction is fantastic, anywhere on the surface. The heater was on all day in the onroad room at about 70 or so, about what it will be during the nats, RP 30's should work well in that enviroment, the surface doesn't get anywhere near the temps reached at the Reedy, more like just after the morning dew dries up at the Reedy.
But I'm a slow old fart, so take it for what it's worth.

EddieO/someone local ...is there an Embassy Suites nearby the track? I know couple pages back were posted hotels in order of location to the track, but if I'm gonna be staying for 11 days, may as well make it in a hotel chain I have points at and am familiar with (not to mention the free drinks during the managers reception daily )
The nearest Embassy Suites is in Lynnwood. If you are renting a car, it isn't that far away but you are looking at a 45 minute drive each way. You'd be travelling against our traffic, but that's still 45 minutes away.

I was looking into the Quality Inn and online they didn't look like they had many rooms left; this is the choice hotel IMO as it is literally just down the block from the track and only one major street over. In my experience they have been nice hotels too, so get your room NOW if you want to be close. If you did not want to rent a car you could walk to the track in about 10 minutes, and there is food within walking distance (probably another 10 minutes on foot...we're in cow country so the blocks are long.)

As for tires, I too did some testing today. We'll need to wait for someone consistant like Peter to give the final word, but it looks like the tire will be the RP30 or RP32. I tried RP32's today and they worked well, took awhile to warm up and come in - for stock and 19T I think RP30 would be the tire of choice, but because of modified the RP32 might be a better overall choice. We'll get this figured out in the next couple of days - it's not official but the RP32 is probably going to be the tire.

The track is awesome. I don't think anything needs to be done to the asphalt, the traction is great and it's consistant across the entire track. The traction is high, but not super-high. Everyone is going to love it, it's a great change after trying to run a 2' groove on carpet.

Now did you test at OUR track or are you talking about racing regionals at SIR?

Hotel information again taken from my last post about it ... I will try and get the Peel It website info so I can post this on the site.

You can have stuff shipped to the track also. Sean Maybell (STARSCREAM) is our on road guy and is the on road manager at Peel-It. Call the shop 360-657-7667 and let him know your going to ship stuff up and we can lock it up for you in the Brood shop.

---------------------

I don't think anyone has setup a special rate with any of the local hotels yet. For the best hotel by location, and quality, I'd suggest the Quality Inn in Arlington. It's the closest, and the nicest.

Quality Inn (WA179) (around $100/night)
5200 172nd Street N.E. , Arlington, WA, US, 98223
Phone: (360) 403-7222 Fax: (360) 403-7122

Other near by hotels :
Hawthorn Suites (3/4 mile away) (around $80/night)
(360)657-0500

Arlington Motor Inn (1.5 miles away) (unknown cost)
(360)652-9595

Smokey Point Motor Inn (1.5 miles away) (unknown cost)
(360)659-8561

Everett, Washington is just 15 miles or so south of Marysville/Arlington (where the track is located) but I would honestly avoid staying in Everett as the traffic going north in the morning is typically bad because of a major construction project going on, which still will be going on come July. All of the hotels listed above are close enough that you can get to the track in just a few minutes.

Default RP-32?

Desolas,

Never heard of an RP-32. Do you mean a TakeOff CS-32?

Until you get there...It is!

That Indian Casino being only a mile away should make it "interesting".

I forgot about that...Geeze, hope you speak Tulalip...Otherwise, you may get scalped when they see you.

Oh, did I ever tell you that the only other place I have ever lived outside of CA was on Puget Sound?

Welcome to Washington...The only good one...

More to follow about Sasquatch.
