Default GQ Carpet Foams...

Just as another alternative to the other brands, I got some of the GQ tires to experiment with and seemed to find a nice combo...

I used the Black/Grey compound up front and Grey in the rear, ran the tires at 62mm, finished 3 quals and a main and was at 61.4mm....

Traction was awesome and obviously wear wasn't a problem, the track was setup for 1/18th so it was very technical with only one high speed section...

Anyone else have a chance to try them yet???

Default GQ Product

I also have the GQ tires to try. What kind of car were you testing the tires on? I will be testing mine on the Speedmerchant Rev 4.

I used them on an XRay FK'04 - Stock motor, I'd like to try them soon with a 19 turn and see if it requires any compound changes....

I've been running for GQ...indoors and outdoors.

On carpet the 28mm Black/Grey - Grey combo is very similar to what other companies call Purple - Plaids. For most situations those will be great tires to run.

There are also new 28mm indoor foams that will be coming out soon. I have tested them on carpet and they are similar to the the Cyan - Magenta, Double Pink/Orange - Double Pink combos.

I will try and find out when the release date of the new compound is. They definitely have more grip and resulted in better laptimes given the same carpet traction level.

-------------------------

Outdoors...if you run Nitro the GQ lines of nitro foams is awesome as well. Not that many areas do....but if you run Open Mod Electric w/foam tires these work great as well. I've run both the nitro and 28mm indoor foams on asphault and both ran well.

Very nice, I'll have to inquire about them as well, I was running Cyan / Magenta at the end of last season and I concur that my laptimes were faster then the typical plaid / purple setup...

I really want to try running GQ tires this Fall. PLease let us know when the new foams come out. Oh, and BTW, can Competition post a guide or something to help translate Jaco or TRC tires over to GQ?

Right now as far as indoor foams go I would really go with Black/Grey fronts and Grey rears. Those will be similar to jaco, parma, trc, ect....plaid fronts and purple rears.

There's a guy on this forum "Rookie Solara". You can PM him...he works with a small LHS here in Chicago that is a distributor.

You can also contact Joseph at Competition-rc.com ([email protected])

As for matching up exactly, GQ doesnt pay attention to what the other guys do which can be both good and a pain, cause I had to throw out alot of gained knowledge in making the switch to their tires, but I gotta say I like them and hope to get to run them again next week for some more practice....
