Axiom5B - Any input on this? Also, what car are you running?

Thanks for the help!!!!
Doug,

I would personally recommend the Demon 1 for carpet with foam tires. I am running a Demon 1 with 3 mm chassis and 3 mm top plate. It is working VERY well right now, easy to drive very fast. I am planning on trying the 2.5 mm chassis with 3 mm topdeck just to see how it feels with lower roll centers. FYI for anyone buying a Demon/Demon2 there is no noticeable difference in stiffness on the track between 2.5 mm chassis and 3 mm chassis. The difference you will feel is in the roll center of the car.

Ray, be sure to send me a setup for the champs man! Warpspeed is gonna go fast for sure!

Axiom - Thanks for your input. I spoke w/ Victor today and he said after running the D2 it was initially very twitchy. He also said it was a lap faster then his D1 as well.

My only concern is potential twitchiness on the carpet, especially at national level competition where the traction is sick, i.e., birds, Cleveland Champs, etc. I guess only time will tell how the D2 will perform.

Ray - Anyone in your area running the D2? How do you like the D1? What are the major differences you noticed from the tube chassis? I know your racing venue has some of the nations fastest carpet racers......

doug i have run the car on the layout and the actual carpet for the snow birds at minnreg and with a high traction level and with full diffs the car was dialed compared to my d-1 and my ft car both had oneways and his car was 2tenths faster then my car. the car was stabile never felt twicthy or felt like traction rolling.
it did turn on a dime due to the wheel base, comparing it to my d-1 is nite and day difference any body want to by one of the origional prototypes

speedxl, was this on rubber or foam tires?

As I and Ray have said, the Demon 2 will be dialed for anything with rubber tires. For foam on carpet i'd still say the D1 will perform better at large races or really high-traction tracks. Trust me, the car has no problems in the steering dept!

just use the bearing on your stock TC3 steering!

while waiting, i am also painting a new body!!!
get some sand papers also to finish up or prep the chassis
its also a good idea to buy chassis protector. I use 3M bath tub tape!!
Oeace and happy racing!!

I forget the AE part number, but you should replace the bushings included in the swing rack hardware kit for bearings.

this was with rubber tires axiom but i sure youre thinking the d-1 being longer will be easier not the case rememder shim the rear hub to the rear and make it a little longer pluss we all know theres enough adjustment to take traction out of the d-2 if its to much. i actually think the car with the shorter wheel base will be a better choice i have tried the tc3 with long and short wheel bases and can tell you wether its on foams or not i always felt the car to be dialed with the shorter wheel base maybe for me because i am an old school 12 scaler and like a somewhat nervous car because the faster you go the less twicthy its becomes!

Well, I'm just saying at the extremely high traction races many of us go to it can often be difficult to get rid of the twitch and compensate for the increasing traction. One of the ways we do this is to lengthen wheelbase. Having a longer wheelbase to start from will allow us to go faster from the beginning.

I am buying the Demon2 after all and hope to have it installed and ready to race on October 12, 19, etc.... It will only take two race weekends to know which one to use against the guys I race against every week.

I will have a real good idea for comparison for everyone then. I tend to sacrifice the ultimate set-up in an effort to make my testing legit-so I will be putting the exact same set-up that my D1 has on it after this Sunday's race. Then tweak it one change at a time as usual for me.

If I could get paid to test RC cars (or Race cars, performance street cars, Karts, etc....)-I think I would be in heaven.

Give me data acquisition, a laptop and a clipboard and I am happy, happy, happy!!

axiom you can compensate for length via other adjustments.
length isnt the only way its just the easiest just just up steering not to be so agresive via tires springs or oil! i am sure you know how!

good luck ray i am sure you'll figure it out quickly! and that the d-2 is the ticket!
