It looks like the Sphere is more the ESC of choice from what I've read on here but why?
Thanks.

from my experience, the early batch of sphere was quite unreliable. I think they have sorted out the production problems and both my spheres have lasted for such a long time without any failure or issue. Love them so much!
As for my GTB ESCs, let's give it 4 months and I am willing to bet that it will self destruct on its own after that 4 months period. Name any common failures (smoked, damaged ICs, etc.) and I have experienced it. To add salt to wound, right after the 4th month, it is no longer covered by warranty.
My clear choice will be LRP Sphere Comp!!!

First gtb I had it did not work out of the box. Had to send it in. You will have that. Just put in a 13.5 today it was bad out of the box.
I have a 2nd GTB no problems.
I have a Sphere comp. No problems.
The Sphere is so much nicer to switch between brushed and brushless. the GTB programing sucks.
I am going tekin when it comes out.

GTB 4 ME
I HAVE 3 GTB'S . 4300, 3.5, 13.5
I HAVE RAN ALL 3 WITHOUT PROBLEMS AND RUN 1 WITHOUT THE FAN. AS FOR THE COMPARISON, ITS LIKE WHAT KIND OF CAR YOU DRIVE, FORD, CHEVY, DODGE, NISSAN. ITS ALL IN PERSONAL CHOICE UNTIL ONE OF THEM LEAVES YOU ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD
I AM INTERESTED IN THE TEKIN SETUP, ANYONE HAVE A LINK ON INFORMATION ABOUT TEKINS NEW 1/10 SCALE BRUSHLESS ESC. I HAVE SEEN THE 1/18 MINI RAGE BUT NOTHING ON THE 1/10 SCALE.

minus all the questionable reliability of both brushless esc. here is what I found.
the lrp is a much smoither esc. it also have more high speed fets. and it does not have a motor temp sensor. also a little shorter so you can slam the body. the comp works with lipo. limited to 5.5+ for regular and 4.5 for comp version
the gtb seams to more punchy has a smaller foot print. and does have a motor temp sesor lead. it also works on almost any sensored brushless
i run the lrp in 1/12 and the gtb in sedan. i have see people use the gtb is 1/12 and lrp in tc. but that is not the norm.

Had a GTB, glitch glitch glitch and to run a brushed motor is a 25 minute wiring job! Got an LRP Sphere now, well behaved, it's 8 mths old now and has never misbehaved or thermalled.
After seeing G10 and G11 Tekins locally, I'll give them a miss. Fet Blowing looks cool but could get costly.

Does anyone of you had experience of mixing between LRP and Noavk brushless motor system? Does mixing work? Does LRP have stock and 19 turn equivalent like the Novak does? Thanks

I was using the LRP Sphere Comp with a Novak 4.5t Sintered rotor Motor with great success, lots of power, super efficent, no thermal problems whatsoever and no other issues.
And this is running it on large outdoor, high bite asphalt tracks, in our summer (ambient temps around mid 30'C with track temps around 60'C)
I did try the 3.5t with the LRP and it was great for only 3.5 mins before it self destructed!!!

From my experiences, the Novak controller has worked the best for me.
I ran both the LRP and Novak in Touring car.
My first Novak controller I purchased had a problem. I sent it in and got it back in no time. Thanks Novak.
While I had down time with the Novak contorller I put a LRP system in my car. I ran the LRP for 5 races with a 4.5 Novak motor. On the fifth race the conroller blew up some fets.
I got the Novak system back and tried the 4.5 motor and it doesnt work.
I am now running the Novak 4.5/GTB combo and it has worked great for many races.
I have driven many brushless systems and I push them all to the max.
From what I have experienced, the Novak controller seems to be the most reliable and has the smoothest throttle.
Thanks,

I run the GTB with a SS4300 in sedan and I have no problems at all. I even ran it a week or two without the fan with no troubles. I think some of the hype around the GTBs blowing up are do to early production bugs. When guys push the envelope of a rational rollout, I think it becomes unfair to point every finger at Novak. At my club we have probably a dozen guys running them and only one guy smoked his. This is the same guy that's famous for blowing up whatever whenever.
