Default MaxAmps.com

MaxAmps.com is the place. They are very cooperative if ordering over the phone as well. When you buy from them, they send a thank you card and are very cooperative when asking advice.

Thanks, it is interesting that 1000mah capacity increase increases the volume of a single cell by 50%...

in this case, 1000 mAh is 20% more capacity and the thickness increases 30%. They're a little thicker that what you might expect but not that much.

Talking Help

HI all

I'm looking at getting a lipo battery and charger but not sure what to go with. All new to me...but want to try it out. I'm running a T2 with the Mamba max 7700. Any suggestions on what to look for or go with would be great.

Thanks, Doug

The 6000 is great because for a lipo it is very close in size to a regular 6 cell pack and the weight isn't outragously different. However a T2 is not real lipo friendly. Takes a little grinding on the motor mount to get it to fit. A 5000 might fit or at least take less grinding but you'll have to add a little more weight.

Plenty of charger options out there... I use the ICE.

Default I use the MRC 977

I use the MRC 977. It has Li-Po settings, cut-offs and comes with it's own power supply. The MRC 989 is even better. Thing about MRC, they are very reasonable as far as price; especially considering they come with their own power supply.

I got my 6000mah pack from there e-bay store. The price is the same, but got the connector for free. I think if you get it from there web site, you get discounts as you spend more in the future. And i did get a thank you card from them few days later...kinda surprise me on that one...very friendly.

Here is how I did the math:
4000 pack cell per your information:
44mm x 137mm x 6mm = 36168 cubic mm

5000 pack cell per your information:
45mm x 138mm x 9mm = 55890 cubic mm

55890 / 36168 = 154%
5000 / 4000 = 125%

That's why I say 50% bigger volume and 25% more capacity. It wouldn't be an issue but that makes it too thick to fit in the 007

edit: I just checked maybe I can make it fit... I mean the Platinum is 23mm thick and you have to put 1.5mm shims under the topdeck to make it fit...

I run maxamps 5000hv packs in my t2 007' and that car is tiiiiight fit. it fits like a glove and you can use tape ( I modded the T2 graphite strap). I also run maxamps 4400 li-po in my Jconcepts 4wd buggy.

I called up MaxAmps and they confirmed over the phone that their Lipo packs can also be charged safely at 2C rate with a Balancer...that's great news, but I'd rather have them tell us that in writting....unless you bought a 3 yr warranty w/ your packs
