Default novak brushless

I run a fan on mine which only cost me $16.00 shipped from hobby talk forum site smallest fan I have seen 3/4 by 3/4 of a inch and pulls I believe 1/3 of a amp.I heard with a fan you could gear to the moon for top end and get no thermal shutdown i have the 4300 and it got real hot geared with a 1.10 rollout (without fan}but I need more speed to lower lap times, the competition here is insane some of the A main drivers had more punch and top speed than my 4300 system.I started with a 1.02 rollout and finally like my lap times with 1.10 rollout and may try higher next week as mine lap times were consistant low 13's and the top guys were in the 12's and some 11's but my setup is off too which could lower my times I may true my tires down from 2.44 to 2.35 I figure if I am that fast with big tires small would make my car great.

It is really hard to compare brushless vs. brushed. They both ahve different characteristics and feel different. The torque on the brushless is proportiantely higher for a comparable RPM motor, so there is going to be trade offs. Plus the drag feels different since brushless has almost none. The 5800 is the stronger of the 2 Novak ones. Novak's web site has good info. The motors are rated by Kv which is why they are named 4300 and 5800, but that only matters in the unlimited mode.

Default minimum battery capacity

Is the a minimum battery capacity that the Novak 4300 can run....?

Would it be possible to run a 4300 set up in a TC with
2000mah nimh AA 6 or 7 cell pack.

it'll run , but dont expect good results though.
AA's have higher internal resistance and they'll heat up easier. That means you can expect less speed(voltage) and also less than 2000 of runtime since a lot of charge is converted into heat.

Reason for asking is, I came accross some new type of battteries which are 2000mah AA bats which can charge in 15 mins. IC3 batteries from Rayovac.

http://www.rayovac.com/15minutes/info.html

Check it out. I was thinking if these cells can charge in 15 mins them might be able to take the drain from the brushless motor. Its suppose to be a more efficent motor esc combo right....?

Wouldnt the light weight effect the load required to push the car....? I sure dont know this, but I might end up giving it a try whats the worst that can happen, get lapped 12 times... in a 5 min race...

novak 4300 vs 19T brush,

Is it possible that a 4300 out run a 19T spec motor. I have been running the 4300 for the last 4 weeks or racing and have been very happy with it.

Default 4300

I don't think it would be bad in a 19t class but I don't think you will walk away with the class I feel its slower than a great 19 turn but about even with the best 27 turn it has seems to run like p2k with torque and still can keep up with A main motors on straights.

On Novak's brushless motors, does the speed control have reverse lock out?

Default OMFG!!

I don't really have a point to make here, but I just thought I'd share. I just put one of my SS Novaks in my Tamiya Mini Cooper (old style one)...it sounds very pissed off. It has a ball diff in it and it doesn't sound like it's too happy. Almost like a slipper clutch. Pretty damn fast, though. I forgot how fun that thing is.

I am running the SS in my F201. I run it with the regular gearing. 55/20 combo. The esc is a tight fit on the 3Racing carbon chassis.
It is a blast to drive the F201 with the SS5300. In fact, it is a blast to drive any cars with the SS5300.

Supra66,
Tru Dat! Tru Dat! I put my eletric car away for months when I got tired of cutting motors all the time. Now, I'm having more fun running my electric than my nitro right now

Default SS5800 in F201

I just got an F201 also...I was thinking about putting the SS in there, but the stock chassis is SO tight. I barely got a little Futaba and a Novak Explorer in there.

As big of a pain as that thing is to work on (compared to a TC), I'm sticking with the "Sport Tuned" motor for the time being. I'd just break more stuff with the brushless. The Mini is damn near indestructible.

Anyone run a 4300 or 5800 with 4 cells, how does it compare to a stock brush motor with the 4 cell set up. Also does runtime increase with 4 cells vs 6 cells...?
