Glide, They are still working on the update. But I had a chance to take a motor apart completely. It's pretty simple, take the 3 big screws out to take the "front" endbell off, then remove the 3 "countersunk" screws from the "back", you should see the bearing after the cover is removed. That's it, but bearings will last a very very long time with no service. We have to service bearings in normal mod motors because the lube gets regularily blown out by motor spray.

Default Charlie,

thanks, i did the same thing...very simple. Also i found out that after so long and lots of batts through it, the inside is very clean!! You were right about not having to service the bearings, Thanks again

2QCK2C, I have it in my XXX-G+ right now too and it's great, very quiet!!

Default NO QUALITY CONTROL

Charlie,

Hi! I like to let you know that I am very satisfied with my
NOVAK BL but some of my friends arent as lucky as me and
Glide1. We both run on the same club here in the Philippines.
Just to inform you, at least three of our members here
who purchased NOVAK B.L. systems were not lucky....there
motors are slower than stock silver can sealed type motors.
We tried all the diffrent settings, radio adjustments etc. but
it still doesnt run right. The speed control gets really hot
and we switched it from one car to another to no avail. FYI
we did not even cut or shorten the original wires yet.
Maybe you should tell you company to up their quality control
cause these things arent cheap, especially for us here in
the Philippines and its really a hassle for us to send it back,
wait, and not run. 3 failures out of the 14 NOVAK B.L. systems
here is pretty bad. Hope you can bring it up with your good
company.

JPN

Hello jpn, Thank you for pointing out the problems. I will have to look into those returns. Customers that have reported "Slow" operation typically have similar failures in the ESC. I am terribly sorry that they have to go through the trouble of returning them. If you can contact the distributor for your area, they may be able to offer some faster Service than sending it here. But if it is sent here, we typically get them in and out within a few days if the Service Forms are used.

Thanks,
Charlie

Thumbs up

TWO thumbs up for charlie and the Novak Crew. i too had the very same thing happen to me. After about 10 runs with my Novak BL set on profile #2 my tc3 slowed down soo much i got passed by a tc3- with a Stock motor. ( @ SoCal raceway) i went and asked him about it, he asked me to bring it by the shop. I stopped by the novak facility last tuesday at aprox. 1pm by 1:15pm i was on my way with a working BL as good as new....

Ironically my next stop was Team Assocaited to get my Quantium comp repaired (the darn thing would not turn on) well it is now one week later and i do not have my quantium comp......... hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm.............

NOVAK'S CUSTOMER SERVIES RANKS #1 ON MY LIST

Don't worry too much. We have a lot more happy customers with Super Sports than unhappy. Even if you do have a problem, it's just a matter of time delays, we always get issues resolved and make sure our customer have product that works correctly in the end.

Thanks
Charlie

I must report that my BL system is also out of commission. After one marvelous first pack through it, the second wasnt so lucky. The car was as fast as a Mabuchi 380 and it was burning hot! I also noticed I had to pull the trigger atleast half way to get the car to move. I thought at first that maybe I needed to do a set-up again, but after that I realized it wasnt me. I called Novak and the diagnosis over the phone was a bad drive FET. So off it went to the post office. Right now its probably on its way back to me, and I'll give her another try. I must say, Novak does have the BEST customer service. I have never had a speedo failure (a few receivers failed on me) But when I sent something in the turn around time is just increadible! I look at it this way, this is cutting edge stuff and I'm happy to be here when the first BL systems come out. In 10 years everything will be BL!

Default Godd Service and Distributor

Charlie,

The BL systems that had problems were replaced by you
distributor here. Bravo to Novak and there Philippine distributor.
BTW I just want to inform all you guys that although we
encountered a few problems with some BL systems our club
is pushing the NOVAK BL spec class and we are growing fast
cause the cost is much less and hassle free....we run a lot more
too cause we dont have to worry about commutator wear, brushes, etc. In my opinion and a lot of us, NOVAK BL is the best
spec class and the motors are much more equalized
as compared to brushed spec class. In brushed spec class
the better tuned motors always have the advantage.

Best regards,
JPN

this is how i look at it

any time you have a product that is mas-produced your bound to have a a few that slip past QC or end up a dud.

I have had no problems with my Super Sport BL system...after much use and abuse. (Yes it also included the Tamiya Enduro race & many week nights at So Cal)

I'll keep using the orange power in my rc cars...can't argue with quality and customer support

Keep up the good work Charlie,

John

If you didn't purchase it locally and the distributor cannot assist, the item would need to be handled by use directly. You can send it through our normal service procedures. The last customer I had to work with in Australia, had is product back 2 weeks after he sent it in.

Thanks to everyone for all the kind comments!

JPN- Glad it worked out. That's the advantage to supporting your local hobby shop. They should be able to offer fairly quick service.

Thanks
Charlie
