My R3 is enroute and plan on running it with a 19T/27T motor the weekend after this one. Can anyone give me a good set-up for the R3 on a large asphalt track it has a large straightaway and a medium difficulty infield. Should I use my current TC3/TC4 set-up? I plan on running rubbers with the car. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Gene
I posted a very good no swaybar set up about 10-15 pages back for a R3 with a similar track to what you have..

Have a look.. you'll find it

Dave,
Thanks I will keep looking I went back 18 pages and did not find it yet maybe I missed it. I will keep checking! I was at my LHS today and a couple of racers and I were talking and they all looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned the Barracuda. Most had never heard of it. Looking forward to blowing them away with a car they never heard of! Thanks Gene

Outermost hole on upper deck for camber link
shock on outer most hole on shock tower & 60% or inner hole on sus arm
toe 0deg @ wheels
Sus arm toe out (as much as you can get )you`ll need offset sus balls for this..the front a-arms when looking down at them should look like this \ /..as much as possible
Camber 1deg
4.5mm ride height
3.5mm rebound/droop
Steering Rack inner holes for linkage and short/fwd hole on knuckle

Rear
Rear Diff med~tight
Oil AE 30W
1.2mm pistion
1.5x700 spring
Mid Span sus arm
Upper hole on rear hub
Outermost hole on upper deck for camber link
Shock on outer most hole on shock tower & 70% or second hole in on sus arm
toe in 2.5 deg
camber 1.5 deg
4.8~5mm ride height
4.5mm rebound/droop

This set up can work with both mid span or long span sus arms..all you have to do is change the upper camber link mount from the outermost hole to the middle hole on the upper deck.. so if the track grip goes away switch to the long span

I also would recomend using a nutral body..AKA Dodge 2.0 and try to stick with a Med inner...Xenon Green or Xenon X-Black..and you should be on your way to having a very fast cornering easy driving Barracuda

Good Luck

Well I've had a decent days racing. I was expecting to be pretty rusty but after tip toeing around on a damp track for a couple of packs of cells I was up to the usual speed. Just in time for the track to dry out.

Setup from last October was just as I remembered it, pretty darn good

I just need to get a new motor and possibly a couple packs of 3700's. The car was lacking a bit of oomph.
Would like a second car as a spare but the R2 is so darn reliable.... (plus I need a PC upgrade )

Guys just got my R3 and I must say an awsome car! Not too fond of the steering rack but it is very free along with the rest of the car. I am in the process of setting it up for a large asphalt track and while I have the instructions they are in Japanese! What is the transmission ratio to figure out final drive ratio with spur and pinion? Want to make up my chart for the car. Thanks Gene

The Internal Gearing Ratio is 2.4375
i.e. 39T (Big Gear) / 16T (Small Gear)

I simply have to find the time to write it down. Will do my best to do it tomorrow cause bit busy building new kits for customers at the moment

One of my team drivers used the R3 during round 7 of our national championships, i.e. couple of weeks ago and he did manage to finish 2nd in the modified class making also the 2nd best time of the whole day. Quite impressive I might say, taking in consideration that he normally races with Xray and practised with the R3 only for couple of days before the actual race meeting
