The Alex racing shocks work fine, although I would recommend replacing the stock caps for Yokomo bladder style. It makes the whole unit super smooth. I have the Tamiya shocks too and to be truthful find no difference between the two on the car.... I only use them so as to utilise all those Associated springs I still have in the pit box

It will be back to the Alex ones when i get a few more springs
Sure is nice to have a couple of sets though, one set up different to the other. Not cheap though!!

Hey guys I need some help. I finally ran my Pink R3 on rug tonight. The car felt very lazy through the chicane. I remember someone (Jim I think) giving some tips on what would make the steering have some "snap". Does anyone remember the tip?

Also, I had the pin fall out of my drive shaft Can I fix it or do I need to get new center shaft ends?

Some idea abt the lazy steering, it is normal tho can be improved.
Probably I would do droop adjust, more steering throw, shocks setup.
If your drive shaft not deforming, I would put the pin back with some CA enforcement.

One of our team drivers made a small mod to his R3 .. finde it rather usefull for indoor carpet racing

He cut some lexan to put over the diff's instead of the regular diff. covers because they can not be used with the stabilisors on the R3 without further cutting.

Pics can be seen here : http://www.a-rc.dk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13

Good luck with the carpet season to all the Cuda drivers

For past 8mths I run my R3, no tweak.
It was designed not to I suppose, or me just don't run it hard enough ...

Cool you ran the fish on carpet. What type changes did you make to it as far as shock oils and pistons to run at DC Ultra. What tires did you run on it. How do you think you car looked against the others practicing? I do plan to run their a few times but I need to shake my car down Saturday at RCO since it is 40 minutes away and I'm familiar with the track. Alot closer to home if I do have any problems.

Thanks
Brian

Wyd,

I was there with your Surge boys John & John. Very cool guys! I live about 40 minutes away from the track...I"m in Collegeville.

I was just trying to shake down the car and get used to turning right again I was racing dirt oval all summer and forgot that my wheel turned the other direction

I had my Novak 5800 Brushless in just trying to get track time. See the attached for my setup except I was running 2 degree camber all the way around.

GTO2,

I lost the pin So I have no way of putting it back in. I guess I need a new set unless someone can suggest a replacement pin source.

Man way to quite in this thread. I'm going to run my new car in a few hours and race it as well. Should be a great day to shake it down as it is raining like cats and dogs out here from the left over of Hurricane Ivan..............

Last weekends setup for the Carlisle outdoor track.
The car had good turn in and exit steering and on the tighter corners you could slide the back out a little in a controled manner.
The tyres are CS22 premounts on dished wheels that are about 5 meetings old but they still worked well.

I was wondering the same thing. I did run my newest Cuda (2nd time around with a Cuda) and didn't do too bad. I think I need to take off the rear alum hub carriers because with them on I can't use 28mm tires ont he car when I use foams. I'm pretty sure with my first Cuda that I used the hard stock plastic ones and this solved my problem.

Won't be a problem next time I run the Cuda as I'm going to be running rubber tires in October. My last time I will be racing outside for this year.

I did have alot of body roll running foams this week even with the 1.2mm front sway bar on and going up to 50 wt oil with the #2 HPi pistons. Now this was on asphalt. I did run the Rayspeed red front springs and white in the rear.

Humm i've never had any luck using the std. hubs and foams i had to change to the PAL hubs to get them on there

I was thinking of maybe trying the low profile hubs I sayw on the Speedtech site. If the rear ones just mounted lower their would be no problem.
