I heard those V2 endbell 19's need some crazy gearing, what spur and pinion were you using? roll out means nothing to me
It's nice that the UK isn't behind the US in getting new things for once, must be partly down to the summer season being upon us and 19turn class growing fast here

Just getting ready for the racing tomorrow, should be good weather and this year I'm going for the win The Cuda's finaly back in one peice, after it's week long treatment Everything feels nice and smooth now and it's all nice and shiney.
I just hope I remember how to drive with a one way
Next up it's motor time, whilst I get my cells ready too, need to get all the speed I can. Especially since I've not raced for almost a month now

Is it worth getting a used cuda R2 for about US$100+ then converting it to an R3 or just get a used R3?

Herm

Gearing was 29/70 with brand new tyres i.e 64/65mm

I tell ya it was crazy high as you said !!! The track has one 25m straight the rest is all infield with the longest straight bit being around 5m there is a sweeper on to the stright though

*********Foam on carpet gearing************

WORK

I'd say it depends what the hop-ops are on the R2 as converting will set you back a fair bit

But after saying that if you can get an R2 nicely hop-ed up i can't see why you'd need to up-grade to the R3 anyway they are so similar

The R2 really needs to come with the PAL conversion for the main shaft if it's got that go for it...... IMO

I suppose thats pretty high for indoors, especially with large diameter tyres.
On a medium sized outdoor track I'll be using about that same gearing as a starting point, 28/72 Works well for Carlisle with a Matrix 19S, will go down a couple teeth for the Demon though, if I can get brushes tomorrow, this set in the Demon are sticking like crazy I seem to have done something the motor doesn't like

It's not worth upgrading an R2 to an R3, if you want to upgrade the R2 then get the Xenon chassis kit for it. That will make it just as good as an R3, with one or two of it's own advantages.
If it's got the PAL system then it's already a very good car, no real need to go spending a load on upgrades.

WORK

I'm with HERM on this one if it's got the PAL system on it i'd be getting the $$ out to purchase it straight away...remember the usual things though and check for slop in the joints etc. (make sure ur not buying a DOG)

Sounds like a good deal for the money your talking about.Unless for some reason you need this seasons version(R3) the R2 is every bit as good as the R3 with the few upgrades talked about, and in some ways better !

Jimmy

I'll have to speak to him. he thought it was going to be a 1 off for me to start with, but since then i've had to get 5 sets done so far, although i do hand some cash over each time i'm not sure it really covers the time it takes for him to do it all.

I'll get a price over the weekend and come back to you.....!
