aren't the Alex shims .01 mm? Tamiya 10mm set has some that are .01 and .03mm. i think Yokomo has some too.

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what a good spring rate, or type setup for a asphalt parking lot would be? I raced my car ( stock r2) last weekend at an annual parking lot challenge and had pretty good speed down the straight but need to get through the infield faster.
I qualified 11th out of 30 and finished 5th in the B main, Hmmm maybe I need more speed too. Right now I'm using the stock springs with 30wt in the shocks and long span arms. Should I look for different springs I.E. Yokomo or Rayspeed? I like the idea of being able to easily identify the springs, so maybe the Alex springs aren't the best choice for me. Should I invest in mid span arms?
Also what's a good gear combo for a 27 turn stock motor. I'm using a 72 tooth spur and 25 to 28 pinion but my choices are limited with this car. I know alot of you guys probably run mod but maybe somebody reading this has a good idea. If I can get my car working faster then I wouldn't have a problem running 19 turn or mod.
Thanks for reading,

Im racing with the R3 but for gears im using 48 pitch 70 tooth Xenon spur with 24 to 25 pinion for a monster stock and a 21 pinion for Binary. sofar really good.

No heating issues with the quad Mag. But its sick fast with that gearing. Im racing this weekend and Ill temp it after my run for you... I race outdoor asphalt.

Default newbies question

I have been interest in Cuda for long
and have some question about this peice of art.
1. what is the pro and con of R2 and R3?
2 Can I convert R2 to R3 since many parts are interchangable?
3 if the answer for the previous question is positive, what parts do i need to change?

I have a R2 coming in. just want to know more about the car
thanks

Hi Dave,
Jimmy had a problem when running the spool on his R3. On full lock it was binding, very noisy and scrubbing speed like nothing else. Havent noticed the same problem on my R2 but I dont use anywhere near full lock.

Its almost like the outputs of the spool are 3 maybe 4mm too long!!!! as the bones sit snuggly much further in.

Any ideas
