also, i have a ton of axial movement on my bevel gear. the spur gear can move maybe 1.5-2mm back and forth. i pull the bevel gear all the way back/forward to the holder when i run since the driving force will cause it to end up there anyway. i also shim the dif gear about 3 shims on the long side to back it off of the pinion (bevel) gear. there's alot of backlash, but i have never slipped or chipped a gear in the transmission.

please enlighten me with something to give this car some R.I.P.

thanks,

There is a way to shim the Bevel gears.. since ALEX has made over 3 different types and sizes. by shimming the bevel gear the Barracuda becomes very Quiet ...and less friction..

If you want to go a few pages back about 60ish I posted a how to with pic's and such.. if not I"ll post it up a bit later for you.. make quite a bit of differance

Havent noticed a problem with no rip from my car, im running 2.5 degrees of toe in on the rear, parallel at the front.
The only time it wasnt at the races was a couple of weeks ago, but that was more down to scrubbing too much speed through the corners due to having way too much grip.
Soon sorted that out though

Im going to try playing with anti/pro squat this weekend to see what effect it has on the car. May put the 3 degree blocks on the front to see how it feels if I get time.

Learn track, get right gear ratio, check different bodies, oil, shock pack, springs should be enuff hours in a day to squeeze that lot in

Maybe if I reduce the cashes etc, it will give me the info I need

Best start charging cells now..........

and the PAL hubs will make a huge difference

Dave,

Anti squat .........

The shimming of the rear wishbone to raise the front edge ??

Effect loosens the rear abit but also makes it handle bumps better ??

Just wanted to make sure i had the right idea on what were talking about here again !

Yes... loosens the Rear...or should I say free's up the rear... alos I tend to run about 2-2.5* for toe in the rear and the Front I like to run max toe out on the front A-arms... Offest balls up front with maxed to outward position..very agressive turn in

Its the pictures of the gears causing the problems...... will have a go again and see what gives

Anti-squat increases steering entering the corner and provides more traction exiting the corner. Reducing anti squat to zero will decrease the steering entering the corner and will improve accelleration in bumpy conditions. It will also slightly reduce on power traction.

Or so I have been led to believe

dave,

i'll check back to those pages.

have you played with prosquat as well? it was hard for me to do it, because it is an odd, and often, renounced alignment, but i tried it, and it seemed to help rotate as well.

2-2.5* rear toe, is that for asphalt? i started with 3, went to 2, and now i am at 1. it has become better with each reduction.

thanks for the tips, i'm off to go searching for those pages....

by the way, i know it was just posted, but what angle of toe are the pal hubs spec'd at? and the xenon ones? 1.5 for the latter, right?

The PAL and Xenon Hubs are both 1 deg for the Rear

as far as set ups for the R2/R3 they vary quite a bit...but mostly on Shock locations and springs

the R1 is a differnt story though

I have R2 xenon stage 3 with speed pal drive train.
Question: Can I get oneway drive shaft for my R2 pal drivetrain?
or they're made for stock R2 only...Thanks

..If you are using the Xenon with the PAL driive train .. you CAN'T use the center one way ..... if you had a R3 you would be able to
