The R3 bearing set will work on the R2. You just have an extra bearing for the motor mount but this works if you have the Xenon motor mount.

R2 with Xenon upgrade is still awesome and is equal the R3. Team Barracuda USA will be running the R2 Xenon at Reedy in a few weeks!

I love my R2. (primarily b/c I hate the TC3 style steering rack) Just add the alum. shaft holders and the Xenon chassis upgrade that Steve at Speedtech sells and it is a bullitproof TC. The R2 is just as competative as the R3 and parts are just as easy to find and prolly won't be hard to get for a very long time.

Default R2 vs R3

guys.. ive had both cars.. and what MikeR and the rest said is true. an R2 with a Xenon Stage 2 is about the same as an R3.

the main advantage i see with the R3 is the "floating" motor mount. the motor mount is now held by one screw on the main chassis. IMHO this makes it easier to align the entire drivetrain. the motor mount can actually pivot on that single screw making alignment easier.

compared to my R2 - Xenon stage 2... the R3 feels lighter. although i havent official weighed both car. this is helpful because then you can place weights accordingly. the R3 is also stiffer than a stock R2... but equally stiff with the Xenon Stage 2.

the scary thing is... MikeR and Linger are super fast with the R2s with the Xenon stage 2.. i cant begin to imagine how much faster the Cuda drivers can get when they use the R3.

you cant go wrong with either car.. but always get the aluminum shaft holders. those are these most important hopups for the Cuda cars.

Default Belt drive 'Cuda?

In the back ground..looks like a 'Cuda chassis with the motor in a different orientation. to me it looks like to be belt driven.

I still like my R2 over my R3... sure the R3 is a bit more stiff...but the strenght of the sparkle chassis is something that just plane not there thats why most of the ALEXfactory guys are still using the R2 Xenon and R2 PAL version....but ALEX Japan will be releasing the newer lot of R3`s with the standard Carbon fiber here around june time ...and that should be a step in the right direction.... but untill that time comes I`ll still use my R2....(or unless BMI gets hot on that 3mm chassis )

Both both cars are VERY WELL BALANCED.. just the R3 has a few more chassis tuning options

The Xenon equiped R2 is deffinetly as capable as any other touring car, the R3 isn't much different mechanicly. Same number of bearings in the drivetrain, almost identicle geometry, rear hubs being slightly different is all I know of. It's almost a case of if you like the sparkle chassis and tc3 style steering or not.
The main advantage of the R3 is it's better in kit form than the R2, I think it's about time they did a higher spec kit version though. Any hint of a new web special Dave?
If the R3 is any lighter it would cause me some problems my chassis has enough lead on it as it is
