Dave in Japan had some custom anodized by Alex racing or Speedway Pal.
If you need some done...check with your local anodizers they might be able to do your car in any color.

CHANGE OF EXPORT POLICY AT ALEX RACING
It appears that Alex Racing has recently changed it's policy on export.
Some months ago I contacted them with a view to importing their Barracuda cars to Malta. I own the biggest RC car shop on the island, and represent most of the big manufacturers.
Their reply was that they had a European distributor and were not interested in distributing to other European countries.
Fair enough. I wrote back saying I was only interested in dealing direct with manufacturers as I do with most other companies I represent - Yokomo, Associated, Corally, Schumacher, Novak, Orion etc. etc. If however they changed their policy I would still be interested.
Now I see they have awarded distribution rights to a new shop, without even having the decency to contact me first.
Great for overseas relations, isn't it.
I'll stick to pushing the ones I've got. After all they are the ones that are doing all the winning.
Regards
Joe from sunny Malta.

I think I know who you're talking about but I still think they go through Triox, their kits are definetly the Triox X-Plosion. I think they just have a few Alex Racing parts, probably through Triox anyway.
It is a shame that Alex Racing aren't willing to deal direct, or atleast through Xenon
Just adds another middle man who take what looks like a considerable profit

johnbull, I think sometimes manufacturers are more precious about their product than others. Maybe they thought it was better to use someone who could concentrate on selling their brand, rather than have you represent them and all their competitors. Just my thoughts...

Actually, from many years experience in the trade I find that people buy whatever car is winning. The TC3 has won the mod national championship here for the last 4 years so I sell more TC3s than the rest put together. It also means more people are recommending my shop as the outlet for winning cars. So it could also work against Alex Racing.
I'm not really bothered.

johnbull,
I don't think that shop is buying directly from Alex, most likely he is just buying from some shop out of HK or Japan and claiming that he is buying directly from Alex. In order to buy directly from Alex is a very difficult thing, but once they commit to you, it's a long time commitment. That's how 90% of the Japanese manufacture works, we as westerners (myself included) have to understand their culture and their way of business first before successfully concluding a business deal. If they have a distributor in Europe (Triox I believe) then that's all they'll sell to, period. That's just the way they work
If you have further questions about this, feel free to email me, but lets keep this thread to setups and racer's sharing their experience on the barracuda
Thanks

Tech Rookie

I live in Malta and although I enjoy RC racing, there is mainly 1 supplier, i.e. JOHN BULL
John Bull wanted to start importing the Barracuda so that he monopolises the whole market even more
Do you know that a Factory Team TC3 costs Lm 250 (USD 750) from him !!!!!!!
HE SIMPLY DOES NOT ACCEPT COMPETITION

I stopped racing 2 years ago simply because in Malta, prices are too expensive!
Competition is HEALTHY in every sport
