I agree..I ran the mine with 64p w/o the PAL drivetrain.. only took 3 mins for the spur gear to be chewed up. After installing the PAL system...the car was more quieter and smoother using 64p gears.

I run a 96 tooth spur and that nearly sticks through the underside of the chassis so the 100 tooth must be cutting it mighty close

Herm.....whats wrong with 64dp, its quieter and smoooth as my friend, also gives a few more options with the old ratios
nothing wrong with 64dp, just quite a few cuda racers have stayed with 48dp, tempted to go to 64dp myself, would mean changing all my pinions though I've got about 45 worth of the little things
May start changing spur sizes one tooth at a time, should give me enough choice in gearing, just a little slower...

Ill stick with 48dp when i get mine, its what im used to, i got lucky and picked up all the pinions from 16-26 for 15 second hand, allready had 22,24 and 26 but a bargain still!

LOL, you were brave even trying it
even with 48dp gears I was noticing slight chewing on the normal drive train no matter how well I built it, although the last couple months it's been almost unnoticeable. Now with the Xenon drive train it's a huge amount quieter probably not quite as free spinning but then the gear mesh is bound to be more effiecient, not that it's noticable when racing.

Gonna need bigger pinions than that for racing outdoors at the tracks over here. I was running a 47 in stock national at Snetterton this year on a 92 spur (64 dp) yep thats 4.771 on a brm stock. Thats 41.48mm/rev for those purists!!!!!

HEHE, you should see Stonehaven running 34/69 with a 19turn Matrix and could of done with a bigger pinion possibly a 36, but I was having enough trouble with interference on the fastest section of the track talk about tricky, correcting a car thats on the other side of a huge track going at full speed and it keeps glitching towards a fence

I take it you're running indoors then, a 72tooth 48dp spur fits the cuda easily enough but outdoors I still suffered a few times from stones or the edge of the tarmac tracks scraping the spurs through the bottom hole. IMHO the small the spur you can get the better, since it has more protection. Of course you can't go too small if you also need tiny pinions, at the moment I'm using a 20tooth pinion with a 69spur, the Matrix V10R loves to rev and run fairly cool

Can someone give me an idea of how many 64dp pinions you can get in a range of two or three 48dp pinions?
Just wondering if I got rid of my pinions 19-34 how many would I need to cover all of the same range but with more choices of course. And yes I do use practicly all my pinions although not need the 19 yet maybe if I get the Matrix V10 (non R) which has even more revs
