I'm glad someone knows what I was on about Rimmer was the holigram though wasn't he? I thought it was Lister who was miserable and the cat tried 'cheering him up'. Another line was:

Cat: (in best James brown voice) Owwww! I'm hungery!

Uneasy Silence

Rimmer: Lister's dad's dead!!!!

Cat: I'd prefer chicken!?

Red Dwarf quote, old comedy series starring Craig Charles who now does Robot Wars in the UK. Based in space on a ship called the starbug.

nah, it's from the episode they get some space mail, Rimmer gets a letter saying his dad is dead, even though he already knows he's been dead for about 30million years and he's sad because he's never made his dad proud. Rimmer and his relationship with his dad is something that crops up a lot, I'm not a sure if Lister even knows who his dad is
Cat comes up to the observation deck, bubble thingy after List has a talk with the depressed Rimmer, and says pretty much what you mention to Lister and Lister says Rimmers dad is dead.

Hehe, I wonder if these guys know the joys of what we're talking about ok Gazza_D should but he's in the UK too

LOL, you must be young, Red Dwarf is amazingly based on the ship Red Dwarf they had a couple of the later seasons on Starbug when they "lost" Red Dwarf. These Americans are more likely to recognise the actor Chris Barry, the guy who plays Rimmer, he's been in some films like Tomb Raider. He's very good at playing the annoyingly anal british idiot.

AH, probably just a little too young to have caught the couple of years when they were showing the 4-6 series and repeating a lot of the earlier episodes too. There should be a film coming soon possibly another series, and they are slowly releasing all the series on DVD.

Think I'll have to nickname my Cuda "Blue Midget"

Herminator:

I doubt that they do - but hey, they could always get the DVD set like you and enjoy a little bit of 'cult' British comedy after a good day's racing

I'd best go and sort out my signature then! I stand corrected. Thanks mate - my memory is obviously failing in my old age too!

Who'd of thought that the subject could go from motor positioning in a Cuda - to Rimmer's dad! Total class

Nice one

HEHE, made me think of another appropriate quote from the Cat
Yes this thread goes all over the place
Americans may have heard of Red Dwarf, they tried to copy it but made a complete muck up of their own version so it bombed

: : : There are several terms listed including numbers such as "86." "86, rhymes with and means 'nix,' usually called out from cook to waiter or waitress, meaning 'we're all out of it, we don't have any.' Also used to mean 'no sale' and as a code meaning a person is not to be served, because he is broke, drunk, etc."
