Just wanted a nice pic of how the cells sit, it's the kind of thing that helps others avoid muck ups.

Pics of my car will come in a few weeks....
don't have a digi cam of my own, if I did I'd probably annoy you with photo's although there isn't much to show at the moment, my cuda is just blue and close to standard.

metal file- rougher than a nail file, not as rough as a wood file

You just need a small flat sided one and possibly a rounded one for tight corners.

As has been said, it's to get the cells sitting nicely in the chassis, you want them low but not so low that they poke out the bottom of the chassis, where they can be damaged. Taking off the edge of the slots also stops them cutting into the heatshrink on the cells.

Don't know where Johnny got the idea it could tweak the chassis do you realise what tweak is?

Been on a boat catching barracuda's? make sure you file your fishing permit

Angry setup

today i did my first track test with the xplosion
but the car isnt as fast as my tc3
ok now i have to find a better setup, to make the xplosion the faster car
the first problem is: i dont have the hpi pistons, so i am using the std, i think 1mm, piston with 30 weight oil.
but that seems to be to heavy, if i compare it with the damping on my tc3...
on my th3 i had to run a soft setup on this track, like blue and silver springs with 40 weight oil.

i dont know what springs to use on my xplosion, i tried from 6,50 - 5,50. but i still dont have as much grip as on with the tc3.
it seems like the 5,50 are to hard for that track, 6,50 would be ok, but doesnt worke with that small pistons

the balance is ok, but i dont have enough grip, the car is pushing out of the corner a little.
any sugests?

my setup:
toe angel: fr: 0,5 re 2,0
camber: 1
caster: std
ride high: 5mm
no swaybar
shock and camberlink positon is std

there is a race at this track next weekend, and i have to win
but i have to run the xplosion
so i need a good setup, plz help!

the track is a 160m long aspahlt track, a little bumpy, i have to run take off cs27 tires.
pics of the track kan be found here: http://www.black-forest-racer.de/strecke.html
i ll do more testing tomorrow....

what are your droop settings (rebound)...and a bit more caster might help to....but the 1st thing you should work on is getting those pistion holes drilled out to 1.2mm ...

Trust me that Car "IS" faster when set up right...just takes a little bit of time to 1st figure it out..

Looked back to find the R1 thread but couldnt...Anyone know what the main differences between the R1 and R2 are? Found an R1 pretty cheap just tyring to see if its worth buying or not.

The R1 thread is just the other Barracuda thread, should be on the front page somewhere. It has evolved into an R2 thread. Not many of us have R1's, well standard versions
The differences between the two aren't huge, the shaft holders on the original use one bearing at each end instead of two, the chassis is slightly different so the cells are now closer to the center, the A arms are a little different.
Depending on how cheap it is it may be a good buy, there are a few good R2's selling second hand too.

The chassis balance is not very good on a R1 and the sus a-arms are rather weak....but if you can find one you might not be able to get a drive system for it..since square has stopped making them ad also one Flag too and also you are stuck with the long a-arms...

but I still have that one R2 thats loaded for sale...

It will make it`s way to the for sale forum tonight.
