I was running stock with just the alloy shaft holders and was doing fine once I put on the Robinson TC3 gear. For stock, the PAL really isnt a necissity. The only hopups I had on the car were alloy shaft holders, offset pivot balls, and clamping wheel hexes...

Unhappy Play in Aluminium Hubs?!?!?!

Can anyone help???

Just built my Web R2, real easy to build thank god the missus can translate Japanese

Have a couple of questions that may have been lost in translation so to speak.

I have fitted the Aluminium C hubs on the front but there seems to be a hell of a lot of play front to back along the hinge pin
Would not expect 2 mm of movement from a brand new kit????

Would normally shim out the play, but, is this normal????

Second concerns the PAL main shaft, seems there is a lot of end float that causes the metallic clicking noise that can be heard from the drive train. Could possibly cut down a silicone washer to take up the slack or is ther supposed to be end float???

Cheers

It's odd that there is so much play in the hubs, I don't have alloy ones but the kit items were a perfect fit for me and only recently I put a washer in to take out some play from all the wear.

I don't think there should be much back and forth movement in the drive system, a ruber washer in the ends is normaly used to fix it.

I believe the Xenon hubs do need a little bit of shimming, but that's not a bad thing, it allows you to adjust the wheelbase.

As for the PAL shaft, use O-Rings to get it in the right place, you want a little bit of front/back play in the driveshaft, dont get it to where there's none...

Just checked the amount of play on my vernier..... 1.1mm on both sides?!?!?!? Funny thing is there is no play in the rear ones. Will shim it up and see how she handles.

Thanks Herm, RM, I'll let you know how things go trackside on Friday.

Hope it doesn't rain
