On my stock R2, I think I am going to try running 64 pitch gears without the PAL system, I have the aluminum shaft mounts, so I'm praying I can get away with it. All I have is 64 pitch, and I dont really want to have to switch everything over to 48.

I think you'll strugle to run 64dp without the PAL system, even with alloy shaft holders. It's a shame Steve is having problems getting them in stock, hopefully Speedway PAL will pull the finger out soon but then we have to wait for Steve's regular delivery time

Shoot, I still want to try it, I'm only going to be running stock until the Hitec race is over, so hopefully I'll be lucky enough to not strip any gears

Anyone have a good final drive ratio for the Monster Stock based motors?

Randman: If you are going to use 64pitch 100T spur gear, I suggest use pinions 34T or 35T. This will give you a final drive of 7.1 and 6.9 We found out and also from some PRO recommendations that the monster stock best performs with a roll out of 27mm to 28mm. We have always followed this setting and it so far yielded good results interms of power and effeciency.
If you are using a Novak GT7 and GP3300 batts, you can set your profile to #4 or for more punchy feeling try #6

UPS just dropped my R2 off, so I'm sealing up the chassis now. Not many parts, should be very easy to build. I'll let you guys know the progress as I go.

well your kit will 48 pitch so just pick up a few pinions you will want to run the 48 with out the pal drive system .

ooh, you have your first cuda
taking your time with the chassis is well worth it, saves slicing your fingers open when you pic it up plus it looks nicer when done properly, I found some super glue that came with a little brush attached to the lid, it was very handy for sealing the edges.

Get a few nice fat pinions in 48dp, it'll save a lot of hassle, the kit spur is quite soft since it's delrin so a wide contact area with the pinion is better.

Remember to use a nice flat surface to build on and tighten the screws little by little in star formation, topdeck before the main chassis.

Almost done sealing it up, got the outer edges of the main chassis done, and both shock towers. Dont have any battery packs yet, waiting for them to arrive, so I dont have to do the battery slots as of yet (thank god!)

Everything looks cool, I think I'm going to take a break from the chassis and build the diff. I'll keep you guys posted with how it goes

Ah yes the joy of sanding the battery slots good idea to wait

Be careful when building the diffs, don't want to put the screw in the wrong side now do we (and no it wasn't me that did it )

Man, I just built the diff, I love the 1/8 balls, they are really smooth once it's done. I used the tips off of the Alex USA site on sanding the gear a little bit on the edges, and I think it will make it much easier to break in the drivetrain. Time to do the 1 way
