We can talk/post/bitch/moan all we want in here but I think we need a place where ROAR can listen to registered ROAR members and not every Tom, Dick and Harriet that can get a bogus user ID and post what ever they feel like....

Not a flame, just seeing a need....
I am not a ROAR board member. The problems with R/C racing are people/personality related. Equipment or racing speeds have nothing to do with it.

Well, I don't 100% agree with that statement but I don't disagree with it either. But you are on the EXEC committee I think....

I still would like to see a ROAR forum .....

McSmooth nailed it....
My point is, if you read my post correctly. I would start my own sanctioning body, but due to the fact that I don't have enough money to even start. I'm not able to.

Glad to see this posted in a new thread rather than other threads getting hijacked.

McSmooth... You make great points. Our club started over 7 yrs ago and we went for several years driving over and hour for a couple R/C parts. Now there are 6 R/C tracks and 3 hobby shops within 15 miles. However, it seems that there are only 3-5 people at our track that always do what they can to keep the track up and going. At the other tracks it seems to e less people than that. These people are the heart and soul of the R/C hobby.
As for the Hobby shops it seems there are several people out there that get all kinds of help from the local shop and then switch to another shop or order online because they think there getting a better deal. What they don't realize is that they are throwing away freindships and more!

Mr Smooth if you ever come to the Twin Cities, I'll buy you a cold one and a race fee. Nice post !!! Being a current Track owner, and having been involved in other tracks for several years now much of what he said is true.

On the Roar deal

I believe it is a volunteer org. so if you don't like it step up and help change it. If you sit on the side lines and snipe, your part of the problem, not solution. And creating another underfunded, under staffed, and under responsive org, to replace it is not the solution.

On the racers deal.

Hey your the customer and the customer is allways right, right ?!?. Just remember the times you purchase a part, kit, etc... for a few bucks less on line, or at a cut rate shop. Also remember asking why a practice fee is not $5.00 intsead of $10.00. Then go ahead and wonder why the local tracks don't make it or close up. If you want a local track support it with more than your mouth/keyboard, and an occaisional race fee. Don't get me wrong my current group of racers is great in this regard. But I've seen all to often in the past.

On the Manufactors deal

Hmmm I have a real simple plan, dole out sponsorships only through local tracks. In other words don't cut us (the Local Hobby shops/Tracks)off at the extremities. We know who is fast, and more important, who is a good representitive for your product. If you sell at dealer rates to every self proclaimed expert racer, who do we have left ? Believe it or not you will sell more product this way. Everyone wants to run what the local fast guys run. But how would they know how good your product is if they don't witness it first hand. Tough to do if the tracks have to compete with not only the Manufactors, but also the Distributers to make a sale, and as a result close up. On that note don't sell direct, nor to any Distributer who also sells direct to the public, talk about conflict of interest !!!

Mark, the sponsorship idea is interesting. There could be some potential there but also some issues such as hobby shops not being able to get certain brands. More of a thing on them than anything really.
